Don't bee fooled anymore by the bad Google reviews. That was under old management. This branch is now amazing!
The Rymal location has greatly improved since the new branch manager took over this year. What a difference. The location is staffed properly, never have to wait in long lines and everyone seems happier to work there. This has led to a positive customer experience for me and my family. I have had complex situations and they all have been resolved quickly at this branch. Hats off to Michael and his team at Rymal! So impressed.

Writing a review for a federally regulated organization like a bank was never something I thought I would do, as I usually only write reviews for restaurants or places I visit. But this branch truly deserves it. I have been banking here for the past six years, and it has consistently been a positive experience.
The staff at the teller counters are always friendly and helpful. Like most branches, there can be a wait during busy weekday lunch hours, which is understandable since many people stop by during their breaks. The location is convenient, especially for nearby businesses like mine, and the fact that they are open on Saturdays makes things much easier.
When I first visited this branch years ago, I was going through a very difficult time in my life, facing a marital breakdown. The advisor who helped me back then, Vandana, showed not only professionalism but also true empathy. She was extremely knowledgeable, waived many of my fees, and provided excellent suggestions. I still remember her saying that their role is like a GPS—they guide clients based on their financial goals, both short and long-term, but ultimately it’s up to us to make the right decision.
Over the years, Vandana and Daniel have gone above and beyond for me and my family. From helping my children open their very first accounts to assisting my parents with restructuring their mortgages and managing their investments, their guidance has been invaluable.
I am deeply grateful to have met such caring and capable advisors. Thank you to the entire branch team for the support and kindness you have always shown me and my family. Keep up the excellent work, and God bless.

I had an appointment with a financial advisor named Gurdeep Singh at 1550 Upper James Road. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at any financial institution. My appointment was scheduled for 4:30 PM, and I arrived early at 4:15 PM. After waiting for 20 minutes, I was told he had another appointment before mine and was instead offered a phone call as a replacement. This was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. When clients’ time isn’t respected, it reflects poorly on both the service and the institution. Very disappointed.

I just wanted to deposit a check and the young man helping me, was unprofessional. He had questioned my debited being a scotia card when i have a cucucover on it. I also wanted to double check my account from my phone, but he was insisting it was fine and I didn't need to check because he already did. I did not like his unprofessionalisim towards my need of own piece of mind. My only plus was, it was done quickly.

Wanted to open an account there today but had to deal with a lady that clearly was annoyed by my presence and questions about the account options. Unenthusiastic and unprofessional. Definitely NOT going to open an account there.

Tried to phone for an appointment and no one ever answered. I kept getting a response in French so I went into the branch to make an appointment for the next day. Right at the time of my appointment, the person I was supposed to see walked out while I was in line to check in.. no one works at the reception desk so you have to wait for a teller. No explanation was given and no one else could help me.. I am moving everything out of scotia as soon as I can..

I had an appointment with an advisor named Vandana at Scotiabank on 2250 Rymal Rd E, Hannon and I must say that this was the worst and most unprofessional experience I ever had at a financial institution and I honestly say this without exaggeration.
My appointment was just to open a savings account and from the time I was invited into the office there was no warm welcome, no smile, she simply asked me what am I looking to do, I replied I’m here to open an savings account, she instantly just replied “I will need your IDs for that”. There was no attempt to engage or connect with us as customers. We were hoping to build a relationship with that branch and hoped to do some significant investments with that branch in the future, and this poor service, lack of courtesy and professional customer service just turned us off. Throughout the appointment she was just there clicking away doing her own thing and at times just asking random confirmation questions. She never took time to explained to me any aspects of the account, how the account works etc. When the account was opened I had so many questions and was confused as to how the account actually works. She was unable to answer my questions properly or directly and kept going in circles about other accounts or how I should invest my money which I was not interested in doing in this initial appointment.
The worst part is that after Vandana opened the account while still in the appointment, I went on my mobile app and saw that there was money in the account. I was surprised and asked where did this money come from. I’m innocently thinking that there was some initial promotion or advanced interest of something. She replied and said that she transferred money to the newly opened account from my other account. I was confused and asked why did you do that? She said so that I could gain interest. I was like what? I didn’t asked you to transfer that money into the account. I said that I would do transfers on my on my online app. Vandana deceitfully removed funds from my existing bank account without my permission or instructions and credited the newly opened account so that she could gain some type of work credit. I found it so rude, deceitful and dishonest for doing that transaction and not even informing me. If I had not signed on to the app I would have not known that she did that until I went home or something. I tried to understand from her what was her motivation behind doing such a thing as this was so dishonest and she kept saying to me that if I want she can put the funds back into my other account and she can close the account if I like. I’m like that’s not what I’m asking, I’m asking you why did you do that? Don’t you find that deceiving to tamper with a customer’s money like this for her own credits or performance without the customers instructions. I was so shocked and appalled by the experience I just wanted to leave. I eventually left and will definitely never visit this advisor again. I could only imagine the number of other customers she must have done this to who were unaware of her deceitful actions. This needs to be addressed as this is abhorrent business practice for an advisor in the banking industry.

This is the WORST branch. I went there to replace debit card and they gave me a new one and said that they have blocked the new card and that I need to take it to home branch in order to activate it. It was 4:45 pm and my drive to the home branch was 15 mins, by the time I’d reach, they be closed. Finally left me with no access to my money for a day. I had no money to eat food at the end of the day. On top of that, they weren’t even sorry about it. THE WORST experience 👎🏻

Customer service at this branch is horrible, unable to perform simple tasks or provide assistance.
