High Spring Trading Post & Saddlery is a unique, family-run Canadian business operating for over 55 years. Located on Highway 7 near Havelock, it is a beautiful spot and a great road trip break with an old-timey, Wild West look that catches the eye. The showroom features a huge variety of really cool products sourced from across Canada, including from Native Reserves and local artists. The beautiful inventory includes Buckskin jackets, antler handle knives, leather purses, turquoise jewelry, wallets, leather tooled belts, beautiful moccasins, mukluks, fur snow mitts, handmade slippers, bags, neat gifts, and dreamcatchers. The custom workshop is unique, repairing pretty much anything made of leather, fur, canvas, nylon, and vinyl, and also making a lot of unique items not found anywhere else. The staff is lovely and friendly, and the place is known for its wonderful smell and sometimes features friendly dogs. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate at the door during certain seasons and find many interesting gift options, from local crafts to unique finds like amethyst or flavoured hot cocoa packets. It is a hidden gem and always a good place to stop.
I went to high springs looking for mittens, I have raynauds syndrome and my hands were very painful in cold, I purchased beaver pelt lined mitts, I can now take my dogs on long walks with no hand pain!
