Didn't end up buying there, but the young man who helped us didn't even work in the boots area and was still very knowledgeable on quality and brands and helped us find the pair we were looking for in Gatineau. He even mentioned what a great deal the boots were that we were going to get, coming in around $145 including tax. This made me check the receipt when we paid over $200 for the boots and a pack of socks.. Which should have been about $170 total. We got $49 back once speaking to the staff and showing online! “Just a quick note—this review is more of a reflection on the lasting impression Smolkin’s Men’s Wear has made over the years. While I haven’t been to the Kemptville location recently, I did stop in a couple of times in the early 2000s when it first opened, and the same welcoming, well-kept feel I remembered from Smiths Falls was still there.

I’ve known the Smolkin’s name since growing up in Smiths Falls, where the store stood out for its attention to detail, reliable menswear, and thoughtful service. Back when it was located in Chambers Plaza, the window displays were always very well done—seasonal, stylish, and clearly cared for. It wasn’t just the clothing—it was the atmosphere. Alterations were available downstairs, and their summer sidewalk sales became events locals looked forward to. Those kinds of touches helped the store feel woven into everyday life.

Even now, it’s good to see the name still going in Kemptville with that same familiar signage and presence. Times change, but when a store carries its legacy with care, it stands out. Wishing continued success to the current location and the people behind it.”
