Favourite sushi place in town!

5-6 years ago this place was the best in KW. The last two times I was there were a disaster, the food tasted completely different and the place smelt like piss. Service was slow, and the regular employees no longer worked there. Idk if management has changed or what but the food ain’t right and neither are the bathrooms. The place needs a cleaning, they have really let themselves go. The once legendary name Nara Sushi has fallen from great heights.

About as average of a sushi experience as one can get.

Online it shows all you can eat is $28.99 but ends up actually being $38.99. this place used to be my go-to cause it was good and affordable, but i just spent $87 on one person for all you can eat, and a few hand rolls and one roll to go for my boyfriend. Not really worth the price since the other fancy sushi places are the same price.

To be honest the price is high for the quality of the food. You can literally go to a different sushi place with a higher quality and pay the same amount or abit more. In short this place is truly not worth coming here anymore unless you are in the local area and are lazy to drive but other than that not worth coming. Its really sad a because this used to be my favourite sushi place to go... who knows... maybe my standards have changed by coming to different sushi places which may have contributed or affected my judgement but regardless I think 99% people can agree (nowdays) this place is pretty unacceptable in terms of the quality for its price. If it was like $17.99 for lunch for example then maybe it'd be good for its current quality but thats just me. AVOID COMING HERE!

This used to be the best sushi place in the area. Went to dine in recently and was very disappointed. The decor has been changed, the restaurant is now dirty, and the quality of the food has decreased significantly. I have to wonder if there are new owners of this place because there is an entire new staff and everything about the place is different. I really miss the old Nara Sushi. I will never go back.

Just wrapped up a meal at Nara sushi, this place has definitely fallen off since it first opened. The appetizers are all salty, the sushi is mushy and questionable at best. My girlfriend and I left without ordering a second round due to our fears over this night out. The atmosphere and decor are not only sad but dated, this is not a vibe. I cannot confirm what is worse of our dining experience the impending doom of potential food poisoning or the fact that it cost +$85.00 and I'm still hungry.Ps the picture of cobwebs on the light fixture is live as it was above my girlfriend's head during our meal.Additionally I don't know how this restaurant is rated 3.7 out of 5, while people raving about how good it is, there are WAY better sushi restaurants in the area.

In my opinion, this is the best sushi restaurant in the Waterloo region. ?Their rolls are the best, freshest and most generous-sized I've seen. I have been coming to this sushi restaurant for over 10 years and will continue. I love the salmon and crab rolls. There are plenty of appetizers for all. My wife is a vegetarian and she also comments that this sushi restaurant has the most veggie options available, compared to all KW region sushi spots.Thank you Nara Sushi for staying #1!Vegetarian options: My wife is a vegetarian and she also comments that this sushi restaurant has the most veggie options available, compared to all KW region sushi spots.Parking: The parking lot is a busy plaza, but there are lots of spots.

We have ordered takeout from Nara multiple times in the last 2 years and it had always been delicious and presented well. However the most recent 2 times we have ordered it has been really off tasting, like the tempura has gone bad or something? Maybe they need to change their oil? I’m not sure but something in it has an awful flavour. The rolls have also been falling apart and it’s presented terribly. I’m not sure if it’s new ownership or tight for cash so spending less on good quality ingredients but we will not be back.

I usually get take out from here, the first few times I remember it was okay. But lately things really haven’t been that good. The miso was really sour tasting, and the seaweed on the rolls was unusually tough and hard to get through. Honestly have had better sushi from walmart at this point. But the prices are pretty cheap so there’s that I guess.

The menu pricing was misleading to say the least. And after finding out that the price was actually $27 a person for lunch in stead of $18 no effort was made to correct the misleading advertising. Food was ok but definitely not $27 worth. How can $11 price hike be justified within a 3 month period?

Food was alright, but I was very disappointed at the lack of advertising. The website lists lunch prices as affordable ($18.99) but we had to pay $26.99 per person. They said there is a problem with the website, but they should honour the price listed. Don't recommend.

Website price says $18.99 but in restaurant the price is $26.99. They say the prices changed a few months ago but there is a problem with the website. If you can't fix your website you need to honour those prices. The food was ok, service was ok, not worth $27.99. Mango icecream was freezer burned.I will not be eating here again or recommending to anyone.

Received gift card, so gave this place a try. AYCE on weekend almost $40 per person, very pricy and food was not good. Sushi rolls were ok. All other cooked food were very salty. Sashimi pieces were tiny. Miso soup had an odd taste to it. The fried chicken wing had a inedible freezer taste. Eel hand roll only had a tiny strip of eel with no sauce.

Disappointing experience. Thought I would try a new sushi restaurant but sometimes new isn’t always better. Prices on website are inaccurate. Lunch is listed as $19.99 but is actually $29.99, when I asked about the discrepancy, the waiter said they haven’t updated the website yet. Menu was subpar at best, although I did enjoy the chicken fried rice. Food items are not as described in menu.
