This is a consistently BAD customer service branch. If I could give negative stars I would. I have had numerous negative experiences with this branch at the Uptown Market on Hwy 7/Birchmount over the years. It is always more people huddle in an office chatting than people working at the counter. The wait time is always unreasonable considering there are often only two bank staff working at the counter but 1/2 dozen bank staff chatting among themselves in the offices. The tellers might be resentful of not being able to slack off like the others do. They always have the unpleasant attitude when “greeting” a client. I finally had it today and have to write this review. My past feedback to BMO directly about their unacceptable customer service fell on deaf ears. Staff such as Tina Huang continues to be a prima donna at this branch.
The latest episode with this branch is with Angel (or is it Angie) and a teller. I was too offended by their unprofessional behaviour and incompetence to remember their names. They would not take my cash deposit because I cannot provide a proof where I received the cash. They insisted to see my account information with my other banks as proof. I have banked with BMO for close to 30 years. And I had deposited large amount of cash in the past periodically. This teller rolled her eyes and asked her manager to come out to talk to me. This manager surely talked. She offered no greeting when we first made eye contact and then proceeded to talk DOWN to me. Perhaps it was because the teller interrupted her Cantonese chatting session with two other staff in an office. The manager belittered me after checking the computer briefly (maybe a minute or two). She said condescendingly that she checked all the way back to April (approximately 4 months from the time of writing) and I did not have a history of making any large amount of cash deposit. She said the rules had changed. She does not know how it happened in the past but a she would not take my cash deposit. Can a branch manager be more rude and unprofessional? Was she in a hurry to go back to her Cantonese chatting session? Both the manager and the teller never greeted me or to show any respect or explained what rule had changed. They treated me like a nuisance who had in possession some suspicious cash. Does the manager know how to apply these so called rules? The AML rule is meant to catch criminals, is she implying if I don’t give out my private information, I am a criminal? Does BMO educate their staff to use judgment to determine what is suspicious and what is not? What world are we living in? Are we all guilty until proven innocent? Is there no judgement, respect or common sense anymore? Is there no basic training of customer service? Do clients have no privacy? Is respect for privacy of a client non existing nowadays? The culture and behaviour of the staff of this branch continues to be ludicrous and totally unacceptable in a corporate world. I guess going forward if I want to continue banking with an inapt human at BMO, I’d better ask my gifters to sign a document to prove to BMO they have gifted me cash. Otherwise I should expect to be bullied at a BMO branch when I tried to deposit their so called large sum of cash. Or I should just self serve at the ATM which exercises good judgement, non prejudice and hard working 7x24. In this instance, the ATM accepted my so called large sum of cash with no problem whatsoever! You can see what's wrong with the manager and the staff at this branch. But generally the quality of human services at BMO has rapidly deteriorated over the years. And now it is becoming unacceptable. Of course if you are a VIP with a real large sum of cash, you would be treated very differently. You would be seated in a room instead of being shown to the door. The culture and behaviour of this branch certainly does not reflect the banking code of conduct for delivery of services for clients.

My son and I went to this branch yesterday for him to open an account. We did not make an appointment so we wait in line to talk to the teller. Joseph greeted us immediately and told us to sit down to wait for someone to help us and no need to wait in line. We waited about 5 minutes. Angel, a personal banking officer came by and assisted us. She was very professional, friendly and approachable. She was able to open a bank account for my son and answered our questions. This was a very positive experience with this branch.

I would give this location 0 stars if that was an option. The tellers up front don’t even know what they are doing.

Please, whoever willing to do business with BMO avoid JIM ZHOU. This guy is not helpful at all, and always push customers away. Very awful experience.

Terrible knowledge about banking. Even though the teller asked 3 ppl about how to make a simple payment, he still did it wrong…

The wait is ridiculous at around 2:30-3:00pm on a Wednesday. There are only 2 young front desk people and they are not experienced. They got a third person coming in to help later on. Please have some experienced people at the front desk and get the line moving. A more senior woman tried to come and help out. But overall the stagnations could’ve been resolved asap and by asking for support sooner.

Every time I come to this branch they are severely understaffed with regards to their tellers. Literally every single time. Usually there will be 8 people in their offices while a line up of 15-20 people forms from the front desk to the door. Zero efficiency, as I stand here now I have watched two sets of people leave the line. Hire more tellers or dedicate more of your existing staff to quell the line up once it forms. It is unacceptable.

I called CS to increase my e-transfer limit and they told me I could do it at the branch and I wouldn't need an appointment but when I got here a lady at the front desk told me it wasn't possible. If you need a high e-transfer limit I recommend you to go to TD bank instead
