Their website shows pick up in store online order will be ready in 2 hours. I placed an order, the products are in stock, waited for one week, still not ready. Nobody answered the phone.

Probably the worst customer service or interaction with employees. The people working there seem like they don’t want to be there/miserable. They do not welcome you or say thank you when make a purchase, ask if you need help or just common courtesy.
If people are spending some or a significant amount of money at your place, you should give them a great experience and make it personal if possible.
It’s just a transactional place. The people that work don’t treat you good or make you feel welcomed.
Online orders are not done in 2 hours, therefore misleading buyers.

Leaving a 5 star review for Tobias, he spent a good amount of time helping my brother choose snowboarding equipment for his skill level, explained everything in detail and went and found sizes for us. Super patient and helpful.

I ordered a pair of volleyball arm sleeves in a small/medium size, as I’m getting ready for the new volleyball season. Unfortunately, instead of the size I ordered, I received a large, which doesn’t fit. Mistakes happen, so I went to return it at a nearby Sporting Life location, hoping for a quick resolution.
However, the staff informed me they couldn’t place orders for customers—which is fine and something I can understand. But what I didn’t appreciate was the dismissive attitude I got during the interaction. It felt unnecessary and unprofessional, especially when I was just trying to correct their error. Customer service should be helpful, not rude. It’s disappointing to deal with this when you're just trying to get what you originally paid for.

I am writing this review to share a deeply disappointing experience I had at the Sporting Life location back in 2018. Although I was a minor at the time and didn’t have a Google account to voice my concerns, the impact of this incident still lingers with me today.
I went to purchase a Kånken bag, which was quite popular at the time. I was excited to find a pink mini Kånken, but upon closer inspection, I noticed a permanent stain that I couldn’t remove. The manager offered a $5 discount due to the defect, which I appreciated, but that was just the beginning of my unfortunate experience.
While I was at the store, my best friend and I made small talk with an employee who was initially helpful. However, the situation took a turn when my friend later encountered this employee at our school, Unionville High School. During their conversation, the employee referred to me as “weird” and proceeded to gossip about me behind my back. This was incredibly hurtful. It was disheartening to realize that the camaraderie I thought I had with my friend was superficial, and that the employee I had once interacted with was complicit in this unkind behavior.
This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth regarding this Sporting Life location. I have found some of the employees to be unhelpful and gossipy, which is unacceptable in any retail environment. No one deserves to be treated poorly or to have their character judged in such a manner, especially in a place where they should feel welcomed and valued as a customer.
As a result of this incident, I have chosen not to return to this location. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and encourages a more respectful and supportive atmosphere among their staff. It’s crucial for employees to remember that their words and actions can significantly impact customers, and fostering a positive environment should be a priority.

Gord, a manager of the store was unhelpful and rude when I asked for a product. He did not look like he wanted to be there and should retire soon, respectfully. All the other times I've been to sportinglife the other staff members were very nice and went out of their way to help. He ruined my day.. this place would be so much better if he didn't work there

1. Pricing
Prices here are high, with their sale prices being what you'd typically expect as regular prices elsewhere.
2. Customer Experience
The store isn’t welcoming either, as they seem overly suspicious of customers, constantly on high alert for shoplifting.
The in-store security, dressed in SWAT-like uniforms, gets suspicious of parents carrying personal care bags for their toddlers.
3. Staff Behavior
South Asian staff often target East Asian customers of the surrounding community due more to personal prejudices than security concerns.
4. Staff Diversity
The staff is ethnically diverse without significant cultural exchange experience.

Located inside Markville Mall on the lower level, a bit busy for a Thursday afternoon.
Lots of items on clearance but still overpriced. I really want to buy from you!
I walked in looking for Camelbak Rogue Light hydration backpack and the Camelbak Hydropak for daily use, priced at $119, and $99 respectively. Amazon sells at $78 and $69 respectively with free shipping to my front door.
I bought two pairs of ON Cloudflyer and CloudSwift running shoes the other day at Winners for $119 and $99 respectively. At Sporting Life these were priced at $200. Same exact shoe.
Great store will cool stuff

They put the wrong sale signs on product shelf’s. You have to leave and comeback to line just for them not to honour their own mistakes. Waste of time, just wanted a mosquito repellent

I had a fantastic experience at this store! It was clean, well-organized, and had everything I was looking for. The staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. The manager was especially attentive; she not only answered my questions but also found a knowledgeable staff member to assist me with the bikes and tennis rackets. I highly recommend this store for anyone looking for sporting goods.

This review is strictly for Jeff because his customer service goes above and beyond in so many ways.
I am a total beginner with skiing and snowboarding and he took his time to explain everything to me, get me fitted properly for shoes, and a board, and everything. He even brought out various ski boots for my dad and suggested that custom was the way to go after hearing his concerns. It truly felt like he cared about providing good service more than pushing a sale that was not in our best interest.
I ended up making my purchase from Burton directly as Sporting Life did not carry my size and he still invited me back to help me put my bindings on my board, heat mould my boots so they would fit better, and suggested new insoles for them which have been a total lifesaver.
His attention to detail, kindness, patience, and overall demeanor were outstanding. He truly cares about his customers and is a total professional. He is also very knowledgeable and speaks from years of experience. If I could give 6 stars I would.

I’m writing this linking to my most recent purchasing experience. I was finger pointed by a senior cashier at counter, asking so loudly about filling in the bag and how many bags left… then most ridiculous thing occurred, he asked a young guy to check the bag I was about to purchase. The young guy was polite and apologized, but senior cashier was acting like nothing happened, he can’t sense the embarrassment and awkwardness brought to me. I could not feel The least bit of the respect and courtesy. But he was totally fine to other non Asian guests.
I won’t go that store again, only to the one in Hillvrest, at least people smile a bit there.

The store is well situated within Markville Mall centrally located near Walmart. If you need help with anything in this store ask Jeff or Rob. Jeff and Rob made purchasing anything here very easy and pleasant. Rob was very knowledgeable the bikes and Jeff checked it and explained about some of the components. Will definitely be coming here for my next sports purchase.

I can’t believe how this store has become the worst. Markham one.
I used to sell to Brian mcgraff the previous owner. First I got a manager today that was playing games with me about a pair of vans shoes woman. They were bought by someone on line then they tried to sell them to me. I said these look used. The girl in shoe department today said go argue with the cash. A manger on duty today, played more games with me
Saying 10% then ok 15, then ok 20
I regret our purchase of the van ladies shoes.
I could have gone to svp sports got a new pair for 54.00
I’m so disappointed with the dishonesty and to maybe I should go to the younge and Lawrence store I hope it stays better more integrity.
I want to drop them off and leave them at Markham store. I want a full refund
