My wife and played out first round of golf at the Ridge at Manitou last week. It was amazing! The course is beautifully designed and very well maintained. The scenery is stunning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant after golf and the food was fantastic. Marlon (the manager) dropped by to chat during dinner and was very friendly and keen to make sure our experience at the Ridge was enjoyable. We will definitely make a return trip the the Ridge an annual event.

Impeccably groomed, beautifully scenic. We received a warm welcome from the very friendly and personable gentleman at the cart port. He excitedly told us about the course and apologetically told us we’d have to stick to the cart path due to all the rain they had the last few days. The course was beautiful and challenging; long rolling greens with woods, rocks and wildlife. I understood the apology about staying on the cart path, it is a lot of walking to get back and forth to your ball, but worth it to experience this beautiful course. After the first 12 the friendly man from the cart port greeted us on the course to let us know ow how much time we had left until dusk. He saw that 2 of us had stopped golfing and suggested we head back to the clubhouse for some wine. It was an excellent suggestion, my son’s girlfriend and I enjoyed the beautiful view as we sipped wine and snacked on the delicious Funghi Feta Dip.

We used to play here during our annual golf trip to Parry Sound and loved the course. Things seemed to go downhill over the past several years mainly related to staffing issues, poor service and rudeness, causing a less than optimal customer experience. In reading the recent reviews it appears these challenges have not yet been addressed. Maybe next year? Until then we’ll continue to support some of the other great courses in the area who appreciate our business and give this one a pass once again.

Came for lunch and waited over an hour and a half for our food. It was not busy. Waitress told us “kitchen is in chaos”, the host eventually came and told us they never punched our order in. Weird that there were conflicting explanations for why the food took so long. They comped the appetizer and that’s it. Food was good but disappointing service.

Starter is very rude. 15 minutes I had to listen to his rules. I have no time nor patience for his lectures. No wonder why course rating plummeted dramatically. I've been returning customer for years, but not anymore. I am not payin' to listen crap for 15 minutes like, don't drive on greens, cart path on all par 3s etc. Golfers know that. I was let Tee off early by course coordinator. Then starter chased me on first fairway blaming me for not checkin' with him first. Well, he was nowhere to be found on first tee block.

Beautiful course. Has changed hands a few times over the years. New management has improved the clubhouse menu. Lunch was really slow when we went in early August. It was a bit busy but not slammed. Hopefully just some kinks they’re still working out or staffing shortages that day.

Amazing course to play, conditions of the course were 5 star, fairways were like carpet, greens were great. But the staff and the amenities were not so great. Our tee time was on a Saturday during August, and there wasn’t a beverage cart, and also no food at the halfway house. Also the starter was laying out the rules like he was reading us our rights. One of the rules was 15 minutes per hole, and only allowed 30 seconds to look for your ball. So apparently only scratch golfers can play here. I would love to come back for the course, but staff makes me want to not return.

Went to the patio a few weeks back and you can notice the positive changes and investments being made around the venue. However; my rating is based on the strange and poor (imo) service we received. We sat in the screened in patio and noone came to service the table(another group came in and asked us how we got our drinks) Went to the bar and found out there would be no server, that i needed to pay for my drinks immediately and take them to our table myself. I indicated we were going to do the bbq and wanted to run a tab but that was not allowed, it was oay everytime you purchased. Then when i got my pork on a bun and asked what i could put on it was told thats the way it should be eaten by the head chef,,, thx for the advice but i thought the customer made those decisions. Our other observation was (most of) the staff that was there never smiled, aka alot of frowned looks,,,doesn't look like a place they enjoy working. This is not the type of service anyone would expect from a venue with a desire to go higher end, in fact the complete opposite.

Our two visits were very different experiences. But I have to say the venue and food were 5 star both times. The servers were friendly and one was very attentive. The other seemed inexperienced and untrained for the job. Unfortunately, we had brought guests the second time when our experience was less favourable. I dont blame the server; I blame management for the lack of training and attentio to detail.

A truly disappointing eating experience. It took over 2 hours for us to receive our food from time of order. The excuse was the size of our party, but other tables came in after us, were served and their table cleared before we saw our appetizers. The food was good, not great, and very expensive for a meal with sides sold separately. Meals come with no sides; you have to order potatoes, fries or onions and pay extra. There were no vegetable sides. I will no be returning.

Quite a surprise. Know the course is in the Top 59 Canada public course list but found this to be one of the better tracks for fairway, tee blocks and greens while the clubhouse has a definite Muskoka feel to it. Hitting into 18’s risk reward green with that backdrop was the highlight. We have played more than 20 of the Top 59 and this one will stand out for all of the above. Owner should be commended for his investment as he is definitely engaged in this property.
