As a seasoned Canadian citizen and traveler with decades of experience entering and exiting Canada, I was surprised to be directed to the CBSA counter for a detailed inspection of a $300 handbag purchased at HK Airport's duty-free shop. Given my familiarity with customs regulations, specifically the 48-hour rule for duty-free purchases under $800, I didn't expect to be stopped.
However, the officer instructed me to declare the handbag. I offered to show the receipt, which confirmed my purchase price of $300 CAD. The CBSA officer behind the counter didn't seem to acknowledge the receipt I offered; instead, he sent me to the inspection area where all my luggage was opened and inspected.
After a horrible long nasty flight
I'm curious to know if others have had similar experiences and would appreciate any insights.

I know CBSA don't care about google review and they don't care about how people feel about them because they are CBSA.
Staff on the day I visited are extremely rude; they need to learn how to talk like a normal human being instead of trying all their best to be a terrible person. They have 0 patience, no basic respect, don't want you to talk, because when you talk, they thought you are challenging them. They just want to give you command, shut up and get out of here (unless you are here to pay, lol).
Normally CBSA employees are decent, based on my extensive experience both at various US/Canada borders and in airport terminal, but this place is absolutely awful.
There is one white female and one black female, if there is worst CBSA employee award, you guys are second to none, especially the white female. I believe they are also the ones that laughing at new comer's english accent in another review.

The officers and clerks were exceptionally kind and helpful. I needed to import an item from Florida, and they guided me through the entire process of self clearing the shipment with great patience and professionalism. Their courteous demeanor and willingness to assist made the experience smooth and pleasant. Truly outstanding individuals who are a pleasure to interact with.

I am not someone who usually writes reviews, but this experience shocked me so much that I feel I must share it. I am a newcomer to Canada and had a very unpleasant experience at Pearson Airport Cargo on October 1st, 7:35 PM. A tall white female CBSA agent treated me with disrespect. While I was speaking, the Black female officer sitting at the counter beside her mocked me because of my accent and mistakes in English. This was humiliating and made me feel unwelcome, especially as a newcomer trying to adjust to life in Canada.
Fortunately, another officer later helped me politely and respectfully, and I truly appreciated that. But the behaviour of the first agent and her colleague left me with a very negative impression.
CBSA officers represent Canada at the border, and newcomers deserve respect and dignity regardless of their language ability or background. I sincerely hope CBSA takes this matter seriously so others don’t go through the same experience.

I got a phone call from cbsa claiming i sent something illegal from mumbai to toronto and agent name manoj kumar asked me to come down to this location within 2 hours otherwise they ll put me in blacklist or something. There is no way to verify with cbsa that is its was scam or genuine. Looks scam to me but wanted to be sure.

Fast and straightforward process and helpful staff. I was Self clearing my cargo for the first time and it was super easy. Have two copies of your AWB with you. (I did!) Saves you time and trouble.

Do not fall for this - this information is false and a scam. Not sure what they want but they called me to inform me that I sent a package from Mumbai to Toronto that contains illigal content. They told me to come to the airport - I don't know for what. I don't live in Mumbai. All these positive reviews are fake.

Amazing and hassle free experience always. Officers are friendly and cooperative. They help you understand processes and documentation and ready to educate you through the entire customs clearance process.

We honestly can’t put into words how grateful we are. The team at Canada Border Services was incredibly kind and helpful. After a long, exhausting day, they still welcomed us with such positive vibes. It truly meant a lot.
Thanks to their support, we finally got our Australian-imported Land Cruiser registered today.

Was there today and got confirmed it is a 24 hours service even when you are just trying to clear your personal packages. And if you are picking up / clearing on behalf of others, make sure you bring an authorization letter with you.

WARNING: I believe this may be a fraudulent listing with an incorrect phone number to aid in a scam call. Scammer will call posing as the CBSA and give this phone number as a callback to seem legitimate.
Be careful! I have reported this listing to Google as well.

Very friendly and helpful agents, at least the agent I spoke with!
Many demanding customers talking loudly when they didn't get their way or the answers they were looking for.
The agents follow the law, and paperwork must be in order for your shipment release. Getting angry with them won't help you at all.
My smiles and friendly approach got me in and out within 15 minutes, and smiles back in return 😀
Very pleasant experience in what could have been the most miserable ever.
Way to go border agents!
