Rented a car and had some tolls on the highways. Thrifty kept charging my card multiple times and is unable to provide a receipt or information on the supposed total. They sent me a notice which states that I should have been billed for about 100CAD. But I have been billed for a total of about 220CAD. This has happened over multiple charges in a time frame of 5 months after my visit.Always watch out with this company, they very blatantly try to scam you through all possible avenues. It is very hard to get any information out of them and next to impossible to get a recharge due to very lackluster communications.

BOOK WITH THRIFTY ONLY IF YOU WANNA RUIN YOUR VACATION. If there were negative stars I could give to this location, i would definitely do that. The customer service rep was very rude and said there’s 2 hours wait for the car and I could check other car rentals if I didn’t want to wait. Ofcourse, last minute booking at other rentals was too expensive so we had no option but to wait. My reservation was non refundable 6 hours before pickup and they still didn’t have any car ready. They made us wait 1.5 hours and then told us they didn’t have any car except a Tesla. I couldn’t accept it because there’s barely any superchargers and being on a short vacation, I didn’t have time to figure out an all electric car. At last, we cancelled our reservation and left. Then got called that there was a car available now so we ran back from the cab area to the counter only for them to tell us they can’t give us the available car because we canceled the reservation. Ruined our vacation. They had 6 hours before my reservation was non cancelable and still no car. Spoke to a couple of friends about my experience and everyone had similar problems with thrifty at different locations. I’ll go with reputable car rental companies in the future.

I have tried to request a corporate email address or phone number for customer issues as I work in corporate customer relations and know most employees do not have the understanding to fix or problem solve an issue. I tried to speak via email with the yyz toronto location and never got an email back. Here is the problem and it is simple.I booked a car to be picked up on 02/02/2024. Very nice young woman i booked thru thrifty.ca rav 4, I rent a lot of cars for work and love Toyota and Subaru, I received a Ford explorer so I'm not sure why I paid more for a higher end suv to receive one I could have chosen and paid less for... But I didn't care enough to actually say anything and assumed it was all that was available, I knew I would need to add my girlfriend to the rental because I had a few locations in Northern Ontario I had to go for work and we we had planned to take a few days and do some winter exploring since the kw area doesn't get winter anymore. My total from 1130pm on feb 2 until feb 12 at 11:30pm was 436.85I went home that night because I had just returned from a week away for work in Vancouver. The car was rented at yyz and returned to Waterloo Ontario. I know there is a 50 dollar fee to drop off in Waterloo and I know there is 15% fee as a premium location. But my total was 436.85 and I knew I would have to pay to add my girlfriend 10 or 15 a day.Tuesday we were leaving after I finished meetings and I figured we would just stop at the yyz location to sing her on and we would be set.My credit card had been compromised after the booking of the rental and so I had canceled it and didn't think this would be an issue. When we came to add a second driver to the account the woman *who was very friendly, but seemed new as she didn't have many answers when I asked questions and had to call someone else* said that because I no longer had the original card used to book i would need to pay for the old booking and book again... I asked if I could just pay for the driver with a new card and keep my old booking and she said no she can't do that. I asked if I could pay cash for the second driver because the old card I used was my card that has all my travels insurance and everything that protects rentals and everything else. She said no I have to open a new rental agreement with a new card. I said fine.. she said there would be a change in the amount and I said thats okay.So I paid 260.96 and closed the account. Thinking that I would be charged around 300 for the new rental since it was only 6 days. She tells me the new total will be 495.30 and I said thats very high since I'm taking it for 6 days and my last rental was 10 days and ive already paid 260.She said that's how much it is now.I forgot that the magic number is 7 days when renting a car I was a little thrown off... but I also figured there was adding the second driver. At this time I was running late and didn't care to try and explain to her that this sounds really high and excepted my extra cost as a life lesson for next time.So based on what she told me my cost was260 and 495.30Now I just received a bill for 840 and have already paid 260.So since I picked the car up at 1130 pm I had planned to return it after hours in Waterloo when I got back since they close at 4pm.I got held up with a snowstorm and got back a day late.I tried to call the 1800 number, I tried to call the Waterloo store and I tried to change the rental thru the online option but I could not find the number needed on any of the rental paperwork.I figured that the rental office would contact me when the car was not back... and so they did via email.I apologized for it being late and said I had tried to contact them and would be returning it after hours to the Waterloo location Tuesday feb 13.The person who emailed me responded with there will be a 50 dollar fee added to the rental for returning to a different location... so at this point I have had it, I've had enough extra fees for things I had booked and told someone about.I emailed whoever *since they

Upon arrival the car was not ready, in fact I was number 6 on the car waiting list, but some customers who arrived later left with a car while we were waiting for our one. They tried to assign to me a Mitsubishi RVR instead of the full-size I booked trought travel agency, having bigger cars parked there, supposedly already assigned. Finally they offered me one Nissan Rogue parked there since I arrived to the office. Even it was a lower category, Q4, it had an adequate size to travel with the family comfortably along north of Canada.

Hi I rented a car A Kia Seltos was very basic car did the job but thats all I can say about it the brakes didn't feel right to me ( and it's not the fact that it's an automatic as I drive an automatic back home ) But what really got me I was charged an extra fee for not having the car back on time. That was total rubbish I was told when I rented said vehicle to have it back by 3pm Saturday 10th February I handed the keys over at 1pm on said day but I still got charged on my card. Lesson learned I WILL NOT RENT FROM THEM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM. Also you can't get them on the phone it's all automated when you do call it's Hertz / Dollar car rental which Is so confusing my thoughts Steer Clear

The woman working the desk at Thrifty was very rude and not helpful at all, not just with myself but with other customers in line before me. The stripe on my Mastercard wouldnt work for her and she wouldnt find another way (chip or manuel entry) to get the card through. Threw her hands in the air and said, “well, i guess you’re out of luck”. I walked next door to Enterprise rental cars and for roughly the same price, they had me in a great car and on my way in no time.

I've always had good experiences with Thrifty.Unfortunately, Toronto is not one of them. Two credit cards were not accepted and she was more or less thrown out of the office until the unfriendly employee came up with the idea of changing the contract. The car was completely dirty and smelled like old cucumbers. The only good thing was the problem-free and friendly return, which is why it gets a second starThrifty should act urgently here

I rented a car from this company and returned it 1/2 hour prior to the contract time. They have kept my deposit and claim that I did not return the car despite my paperwork and gps tracking evidence. No one at the company is returning my communication regarding the matter. Paid for a mid size car, received the economy size. Overall experience doesn't get any worst than what we had.

I've rented with many car services in the past and Thrifty hands down has provided me with the best service.1. There are zero hidden fees/costs. What you are quoted is what you will pay.2. Vehicles are in fantastic condition3. Staff has always been friendly and willing to assist with any requests/additional accommodations4. Their staff don't pressure you into getting unnecessary insuranceI rent about 10x per year and will continue to rent from Thrifty.

We made a reservation one month ago. When we arrived to pick up a car last night on Dec 24, 2023, around 10:00 PM local time in Toronto, we were told all of the cars are sold out.
