“A Toronto store had run out of what I was looking for: a Charlie Brown Christmas tree ? So Mount Albert was the next closest location that had it in-stock; and it was the last one they had. The lady on the phone who'd held it for me until after work was very pleasant! When I got to the store, another lady who'd helped me was also very nice & efficient ( I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name but she wears glasses)! There was a man there who'd known about my order and he'd told her right away where my order was. Friendly people at the Mount Albert HH. I wish them continued success with their store! I called looking for a set of feet/legs for a laundry tub. I’m used to calling customer service at the big box stores where no one picks up right away, and when you finally reach someone, they rarely have the kind of practical, out-of-the-box thinking needed to solve unusual requests.

Debrah answered almost immediately and quickly came up with a solution, using real discretion and problem-solving skills. I wasn’t even sure the parts could be purchased separately, since they typically come only as part of a full laundry tub set.

I spoke with Debrah, the owner, and she provided exceptional customer service. She remembered that the store had an extra set left over from a previous order and that it had been marked down for clearance. She personally went to check that it was still there and set it aside for me to pick up.

When I arrived at the store, Debrah met me personally and provided the item to me for only $5.

What impressed me most was the personalized approach. I cannot imagine getting this kind of solution at a large retailer like RONA or Home Depot. An item that normally isn’t sold separately would likely mean buying the entire set or walking away empty-handed. Here, Debrah recognized they had an extra set of legs, made it available separately for $5, verified the inventory herself, and reserved it for me.

It was a small purchase, but the level of customer service was exceptional. This is a great example of the value of a locally owned hardware store - flexibility, efficiency, and a genuinely personalized approach to helping a customer solve a specific problem.
