About Caliper Lake Provincial Park
Caliper Lake Provincial Park is a great little spot and a beautiful campground located near Nestor Falls, Ontario. It is a great family campground with many electrical and non-electrical camp sites. The beach is clean, though the swimming area is a bit small. There are two boat launch docks and water equipment like paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks are available for rent. The park offers two hiking trails right off the main road, described as challenging yet easy enough for kids. However, some trails need maintenance, with reports of downed trees, flooded areas, and a lack of signs, which can make navigating difficult. The staff are super friendly and exceptionally helpful. Attendants keep the washrooms and the whole campground very clean. There are easy-to-access toilets and outhouses, though the main comfort station is a bit of a hike. A noted issue is bugs, including small flies that can get through window mesh. It is a nice place for a quiet camping getaway, with great spots along the water to enjoy the sunset. The office can sometimes be closed, requiring online booking. It is only a short drive from a grocery store for supplies.

The office was closed on Thursday during the end of August. The solution was to book online. As someone from the US that involved me trying to find WiFi several miles away. Other than getting checked in, nice little park. The hiking trail needed some material but also had great moss and mushrooms.

The camping was good and the beach was clean. Attendants kept washrooms clean. Went on a hike but so many trees were down hard to see the where to go, got lost for about 30 till we figure out where the trail was. Around the beaver pond was flooded out. No signs or warnings. Should look after the trails or shut them down.
