Our wedding at The Gate House on June 20th was everything we dreamed of and more — thanks to the incredible team at 124 on Queen Hotel & Spa, Treadwell Cuisine, and our coordinator Melanie.
Melanie was a joy to work with — responsive, detail-oriented, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. She guided us through every step with calm professionalism, helped bring our vision to life, and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly on the big day.
The venue itself was absolutely stunning — elegant, intimate, and perfectly located in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
And the food by Treadwell Cuisine was unbelievable. Every bite was delicious and beautifully plated. From cocktail hour canapés to the late-night bites, it was flawless.
Thank you to the entire team for making our wedding unforgettable. We feel so lucky to have celebrated in such a beautiful space, surrounded by such talented and kind professionals.

Words cannot fully express how truly grateful we are to the entire team at 124 Queen. Jeff and I are still trying to absorb the beauty of the unforgettable night. My son and beautiful daughter in law were married at Gate house on Sept 29. It was the perfect venue. The whole day flowed beautifully from their vows to dancing it was so much fun The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and very attentive but a special thank you to Rhonda I had recently been hospitalized for a serious illness and was not yet fully recovered Rhonda didn’t know this but I guess I looked unwell at times and she went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of - checking on me bringing me water she definitely deserves 5 stars

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue than The Gate House & 124 Queen Hotel! The staff was an absolute dream to work with—so organized, professional, and attentive to every detail. They made everything run smoothly, which let us fully enjoy our day without any worries.
But let me just rave about the food—wow! It was phenomenal! Our guests are still talking about how amazing everything tasted. From the appetizers to the main course, each dish was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and absolutely bursting with flavour. Highly recommend the seafood station and the espresso martinis - true stars of the show. The quality of the food was truly next-level, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Honestly, it was some of the best food we’ve ever had, and it really made the night unforgettable!
If you're looking for a venue with an exceptional team and food that will blow your guests away, The Gate House is the place. We couldn’t be happier with our choice!

Recently hosted a birthday event and my 60+ guests are raving about the exceptional food and excellent service, the pleasant and inviting ambience, and the ideal location in the heart of Old Town NOTL. As the event planner, I have high praise for the professionalism (and patience) of the events team and The Gate House's seamless integration with the adjacent 124 on Queen Hotel & Spa and Treadwell Cuisine. Everything ran perfectly and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'll be back!

We had our wedding on June 1st and we're so glad we chose 124 Queen as our venue. Erin was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating throughout the process and Melanie, the venue coordinator, was in close contact with us to help plan and capture all the details for our day. The entire wedding turned out to be so lovely and delightful -- it was an absolute dream!! The space and ambience were beautiful and food was to die for. We felt like royalty as the staff took care of everything we and our guests needed. Thank you to the entire 124 Queen team for keeping us on track and executing all our plans with such professionalism and precision. It was an amazing experience and we highly recommend this venue. We're looking forward to returning for our anniversaries.

Looking at The Gate House for a wedding venue and I have to say Sunni was absolutely fantastic in showing my fiancé and myself around. She was prompt, communicative and took her time despite it being a Saturday afternoon. If this is the service provided to a potential client I could only imagine booking Gate House on the wedding day.
The place itself is clean, modern but odes to a vintage feel. I was extremely impressed

The Gatehouse was the perfect venue for our intimate late fall/ 'winter' wedding. NOTL was still filled with beautiful fall colours and mild weather for our Nov 4, 2023 wedding day. The gatehouse staff were so welcoming and had everything ready for the day. We were able to have our rehearsal ahead of time in the space, and meet some of the staff.
The food at the Gatehouse was arguably the best part. All of our guests boasted it was the best food by far they have had at a wedding. We do not disagree, the menu tasting was one of the most delicious decisions we had to make.
The outdoor wedding space is arguably the better option, for ceremony spaces, however when it came to comfort it was a great option to have the ceremony inside the Gatehouse.
Erin the wedding/ event coordinator for went above and beyond to accommodate and make our wedding day special. We are so thankful for the care she takes in her weddings it does not go unnoticed.
A note for couples, the Gatehouse does not have a space for getting ready unless you book the rooms for the night before. This is a bummer if you are not planning to stay over the night before but wish to get dressed onsite.

We recently ate here for their Christmas with Santa breakfast. We were very excited to participate and had high hopes due to recommendations from fellow insta-gramers. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. We were “forgotten” for 15 minutes upon sitting, we kept brushing it off thinking surely someone will come .. but eventually I had to go up to the bar where 4 servers stood, just looking around, and asked if we had a server. The hostess than came around and apologized, took our coffee order, but still no sign of a server. Several minutes later the server came to the table; with no sorry, or introduction and simply asked “are you ready to order”. As we had our 16 month old with us, we ordered right away. We never received any coffee refill offer, asked how the food was or checked on until such time our plates were empty and he asked to take them away. He quickly brought the bill and stood over us as we paid. $140 for breakfast and terrible service. It was lovely to see Santa and take some photos however it was far from worth it and would not return based on our experience.

Attended a wedding on 10/13/23 at 124 on Queen, the service and setting was lovely. The reception was at The Gate House and it was hands down the best food I have ever had at a wedding, possibly the best meal I have ever eaten. The staff was absolutely outstanding, warm and welcoming and efficient and still kept a real sense of occasion throughout the evening. 10/10

Wedding & Planning ExperienceOverall a good experience, but lots of room for improvement for 124Q.Issues that we experienced with 124Q, planning our wedding at The Gate House:The Wedding Day...Seating configuration. The floorplan, table numbers, and place cards were set up very differently than we had planned and confirmed multiple times with our coordinator leading up! This absolutely should not have happened. We even brought a hard copy of the floor plan on the morning of and left it with our coordinator to ensure the seating would be done correctly and it wasn't. This said, It was hugely disappointing to have our seating plans be completely disregarded. Future couples -- do everything in your power to ensure this is triple checked, and then checked again on the day of. Consider having your own coordinator to work with them as well.Tasting vs Wedding Day Food. Specific to the Salmon, we had two completely different versions. At our tasting, the salmon was pan seared, skin side up, crispy and buttery. At the wedding, the salmon looked baked, pink, and was skin side down. This was disappointing given the purpose of doing a tasting, and how excited we were about the initial dish. Future Couples - make a point of taking pictures at the tasting as we did, and if you like the salmon, ensure that they commit to cooking exactly as done at the tasting.Preparing for the Wedding....In general, the communication with our coordinator throughout the planning process was inadequate.Simple emailing back and forth to confirm items felt like a challenge. Multiple emails went unanswered for days, in some cases weeks, forcing us to continually follow up and chase information.Missing information in emails. As an example, we asked for info and materials like photos of tableware, photos of seating, direct contact information (multiple times), none of which was sent.Changes were made without notice. One example would be the price of a bottle changing on the BEO without being advised.Scheduled meetings were also a challenge as there were instances where our coordinator was not present or on time.While there were several issues as stated, there are some positive highlights that we’re happy to share as well:The food in general was amazing! As we knew it would be. All of the feedback has been great with regards to all of the food. Thank you to the kitchen!The service in general was great – bartenders, table service, desserts coming out, late night coming out. The service team was excellent. They also helped with coordinating entrances, lighting, pulling back curtains, etc.Our vendors had a great experience working with the team there to get all set up as needed.The venue is beautiful and space in general was always clean. The bathrooms were clean. When there was a spill it was cleaned promptly.For us, and most wedding couples, this was the most important day of our life, and as such, we did our best to be as thorough and detailed as possible when planning, but ultimately, we need to rely on the execution team when the day comes. In the end, we feel that some very important aspects fell short of expectation, and that many of these issues could have easily been avoided with better communication, organization, and attention to detail.We hope that by addressing this feedback, future couples can have a flawless experience so that they and their guests can enjoy the celebration to the fullest.
