I had a very disappointing experience at the North York Don Mills & Eglinton GoodLife location during a Pilates class on September 4th.
This was my first time attending the class. Although I arrived at the gym on time, it took me a few extra minutes to find the change room and the group class studio since I’m a new member. I ended up arriving about three minutes late—but the class hadn’t even started yet, people were still setting up their mats.
Instead of understanding, the instructor spoke to me in a rude and dismissive tone, telling me that my spot had already been given away and I could no longer join. This was despite the fact that I had reserved my spot online several days earlier and the class hadn’t officially started.
I completely understand the importance of punctuality, but the way I was spoken to was unprofessional and discouraging. For a new member, arriving three minutes late should have been handled with more respect and flexibility.
As a paying member, I don’t expect to be treated this way. I truly hope management addresses this issue so that other members—especially new ones—feel welcomed and respected.

I like this gym because it’s for women only but I have to say that the club does not enforce standard gym rules. people rest on the equipment on their phones instead of doing their set and then getting off so other people can go on it. Totally annoying. Also I bought this gym membership and it said that I get towel service and for some strange reason at this club there’s no towel service so that is a big disappointment for me because I like to shower and use the sauna.

i’m really really upset with this location. I went there for a couple months which I couldn’t go back anymore because for a family reason and I cancel on July 2024 The membership.
after from January 2025 till today they charge me almost 8 months every single month
without my permission
I called them to ask why they told me they told me I see the account which is really ridiculous and they seize special the manager
why are you supposed to seize the account for 7 months from July to the January 2025
so I called them right now. They told me they can refund the money unbelievable.
those are scams

Have been a Goodlife member across multiple facilities for many years, but have to chime in, because this location has MAJOUR odour and basic sanitization issues, that have not been resolved. And so far below standard of any other location. Carpet is stained everywhere and needs to be seriously cleaned with shampoo, replaced or torn out completely. Pretty sure this is where the stench comes from. Have communicated to staff, who are very friendly, but have not seen any improvements since reporting (months ago). Appears is a head office issue, as staff has submitted carpet cleaning requests, and zero actions have been taken. The smell is SO BAD, like an animal has died, and is so obvious the second you enter the gym. It is obnoxious to the point you can kind of taste it as you breathe and is a serious serious health issue, and violation of basic sanitization. Please do something to fix this. From the past reviews, it shows this is an ongoing huge problem for many years, inherent of this location and beyond other people's odours.

I've been coming to this GoodLife location because it's a women's only facility. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There are some issues with this place that are seriously problematic and others have commented about it but this GoodLife location has not addressed them. First, the equipment is old. Some of the machines are rickety and seem to be unstable. Second, there is a consistently bad odour in the entire space. I understand that it is a gym, but they should have better ventilation for air to circulate. And finally, some of the members sit on their phones and take up machines while not actively working out on them. Staff do not walk around and correct these people either. So members who come here seriously to get a workout done have to wait around for someone to finish scrolling on their phone before getting off the machine. If you need a break, then get off the machine and let others use it.

I attend the women's GoodLife at 825 Don Mills, the staff is great but unfortunately there is a big problem with the air and the smell. I had mentioned it to the staff but I don't know who is at fault GoodLife or Loablaws ( this club is inside one) or both but it doesn't seem to be resolved.

Nice female gym. I discovered a few months ago and have been going consistently however, some of the machines are outdated and I am forced to visit coed gyms to access more modern machines which is very bad. Even though it’s a women’s gym, I think we could benefit from a few more modern machines like a hack squat and bench press station.

Irene is the worst manager my family has ever dealt with, treated my sister with no respect at all. Cancelled the membership

I’ve been attending this gym for the past two months. As a hijabi woman, I dress modestly and choose to work out in a sports bra and workout pants, which I find comfortable.
On April 29, 2025, while working out in a private room, two young women from reception entered and told me the room smelled because of my sweat. They claimed other members complained, then laughed at me, which made me feel mocked and deeply disrespected. One of them even suggested what kind of spray I should use—something I consider a personal matter and not anyone else’s business.
Their actions were embarrassing and unprofessional. I felt so hurt that I considered never going to any gym again and just working out at home. I hope this kind of mocking behavior is not repeated with other members.
The only reason I gave two stars is because of the kindness of the manager she was a very kind and respectful lady. Otherwise, those two girls from reception don’t deserve any stars at all.

Really love this gym! I was a bit hesitant to try a new gym but the employees here make you feel so welcomed! Especially Muska, she’s always really warm and welcomes me every time with a big smile!

Always clean, staff are sooooooo sweet. Non-judgemental. Great place to start and continue your fitness journey. Wishing they would turn down the music.

The staff at this location are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I wish this women's-only facility had equipment that was on par with other locations. Women want to lift heavy, too! A lifting platform and bumper plates would make this location a 5/5.

Friendly staff, inviting environment.
The only thing I can't get over is how a lot women at this gym do not prioritize hygiene and it smells so SO bad. I've seen girls leave with their faces tucked in their jacket and I've ended workouts early because of the pungent body odor. Bring back shame! Of course this is not the gyms fault but if there are signs to avoid perfume, then there can be signs about personal hygiene. And most women don't clean the machines anymore.

I had a bad experience with the manager Irene. She lacks people skills and comes across as rude. I hope she learns to make people feel welcomed.
