I went to this location to try on some Keen Rebel IV winter boots and was served by an overweight pear-shaped lady with a Eastern European accent. She called me rude because I tried on a few pairs, but then returned them because I spotted scuff marks on the boots and told her that I didn't want to buy boots that had scuff marks on them and looked like they've been worn. I was polite and courteous to her and did nothing out of the ordinary. @Pear Shaped Eastern European lady, it is you who is rude. A customer has the right to set the standards of what they are buying and the right to reject items if they do not meet expectations. All you had to do was to INSPECT the boots before you brought them to me. If this was too difficult or strenuous for you, you should not be working at MEC. Projecting your dissatisfaction with your job onto customers is unacceptable and I hope MEC fires this employee.

I brought my new skis in to get the phantom glide applied and to have the bindings mounted and set up. Steven is super knowledgeable and helpful and did a great job on the skis. I had a very good experience for the prompt and excellent service.

I went in to get a backpack for an upcoming hiking trip. I grabbed a couple I thought would do to compare. I asked the staff member there to answer a couple of questions. He took time to talk about my needs, adjusted two packs for fit, and made sure I was leaving with the right one. Fantastic and thorough service!

"MEC, the sports goods store, stands out as one of the best in the industry. Having purchased clothing and footwear here multiple times, the quality of their products surpasses those found at Sportcheck. The variety and excellence of goods at MEC far exceed many other stores. While prices may be higher, the quality of the items justifies the cost.Particularly noteworthy are the prices during seasonal sales. We highly recommend this store for those who value the quality of their sports goods. MEC is a go-to destination for enthusiasts seeking premium products."It is a great store for outdoor adventurers. Not cheap. But quality stuff you won't find in another store. Yes, we did purchase several gears, clothes, and services there. Always check discounts. Last summer, we found a super winter coat for my wife for 25% of the original price. ?. We are recommending MEC!

Kinda hot and miss of you'll get an associate that is knowledgeable, eager to help and/or even friendly, or if you'll ask a question and the associate will unleash or torrent of attitude on you like somehow you are ruining their day.Same goes for selection; lots of great stuff, but not always in stock.

I recently faced an issue with my online order being on standby for 2 weeks, but when I visited the MEC store, at this location on Monday, Cole went above and beyond to help me. Despite the customer service lines being down (I was unable to reach out to them on my own), he took the initiative to locate and resolve the issue seamlessly. I truly appreciate his dedication and the effort he put into ensuring my satisfaction. It's such exemplary service from staff like Cole that reinforces my trust in MEC. Thank you, Cole!

Love this place! So hard not to walk the through the whole store. The staff on the ground floor is so much more helpful and friendly than the staff upstairs...this was the first time having a not so pleasant customer service experience.Thankfully the older gentleman working in the bicycle section & the female stacking the shelves were personable (Joanna I believe her name was).Great layout of the store and easy to find items, love the flashlight and knives section. Walking through the camping section is always a must to see the new gadgets and compact items for camping, traveling or whatever your needs may be.

September 7, 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I revisited MEC to complete the return of the Pannier Raincover I had purchased for my MTX TOPEAK trunkbag EXP. The cover turned out to be slightly oversized, and my primary reason for the return was the absence of side panel covers. Instead, I bought the raincover directly from TOPEAK.Today's customer service experience was notably improved and consistent compared to yesterday. During the return process, Marjan was friendly, took the time to inquire about the reason for my return, and efficiently processed the transaction.Afterward, I headed upstairs to explore small bags for my first aid items. There, I encountered a new employee who approached me and offered assistance. Not only did they answer my questions, but they also provided a helpful recommendation that I decided to follow—it was a great idea. Thanks to this positive experience, I can now confidently raise my overall rating of the store.September 6. 2023 ⭐️⭐️Today, we visited MEC in search of a new bicycle, specifically the Urban Hybrid Adventure 2 in size small. While browsing, a friendly sales representative tried to locate one for me, but it was sold out in my size and color preference. I continued exploring and found a great deal on a Pannier Raincover for my TOPEAK trunk bag, so I purchased it.During my shopping, I had an informative conversation with an employee about Nalgene water bottles and their improvements. However, I was disappointed when I ventured upstairs to the bag section, I found myself pondering the price of an item securely fastened to the rack. Uncertain about its exact location and price, I reluctantly left it behind. Later, my partner informed me that an employee had been standing nearby, overhearing my conversation but failing to offer assistance. Strangely, I had mistaken this employee for another customer, even making eye contact, as I hadn't initially noticed their MEC uniform. This unexpected lack of assistance was disappointing. The checkout experience was also lacking, with staff exhibiting a monotone, matter-of-fact attitude. Despite a promising start, my visit ended on a disappointing note.? I appreciated the bike racks outside for secure bike parking, the pet-friendly fresh water dish at the entrance, and the well-maintained, organized store.?️ Just a tip: the parking can be a bit tricky to spot, look for the sign and entrance to the west side of the store.

Denis from the bike mechanic is the best and one of the coolest ? guy. Professional, knowledgeable, and you can count on him to get your gear run in no time. Fast and furious ???just want to say that. Others staff was okay and some walk by you. Jason was cool ask if we need help. Today was my second time visiting with two different bike both experienced was a top-notch credit to Denis. Looking forward to see you next visit. Hope he get acknowledged credit or promotion. He is definitely a keeper. Hard working ? guy. If I pay a visit I only want him to look after my toys. I know he will ensure our safety is number one. Thank you! Hope you share my experience and feed back to your team.

I used to work at the MEC Kitchener location therefore, I am quite knowledgeable on most products that MEC sells as well as share an interest in many of the activities that MEC sells products for. I was in the store and saw a great pair of Solution climbing shoes on yard sale for $90 in my size but wanted to try on the half size bigger to see how those fit as well. When I went into the climb department I was greeted by a young blond haired man and when I asked for the size I was told they didn't have it but that it wasn't the correct size for me anyways and that I should be getting the half size smaller and how I shouldn't be buying aggressive shoes if the shoes I use now are neutrals - "because that's a really big jump", etc. I felt like he was talking down to me and treating me like I was an idiot, shouldn't I be able to buy the shoes I want in the size I want? Very odd. Definitely wasn't the customer service I used to give when I worked in the climb department.
