I visited Mind Games at Oshawa Centre on November 2, 2024, while celebrating my husband’s birthday with my family. We’ve always enjoyed shopping at Mind Games, especially at the Cookstown location where the staff is friendly and helpful. This was our first time at the Oshawa Centre location, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
We purchased a toy figure, and later bought a similar item so each of my kids could have one. After dinner, we went back to the store to exchange the second item for an identical figure. Despite only one receipt being marked as “final sale,” the associate, Victoria, was very rude and refused to help, making my family feel unwelcome. My children were uncomfortable, and her attitude was unkind and dismissive.
This experience left us feeling unfairly treated, and I am disappointed by the unwelcoming atmosphere at this location. I hope Mind Games will address this issue so all families feel respected and valued in their stories.

This company is a literal joke! The store itself is extremely unsanitary and they treat their staff like garbage. Buyer beware!

For a toy store, their staff is not approachable and has no patience to young kids. The staff are trying the bubble machine gun and my child asked if he can try, and she just said No (which is okay, maybe store rules). The staff then tried the bubbles and my child played a bit. Then my child asked her if she can do it again and she just said “No.” and walked away. We end up not buying anything because I find the store ambiance not really kid friendly. Maybe more geared towards adult toy collectors.

If I could give a zero I would, the manager was rude and disrespectful and takes advantage of her label, I wrote to mindgames Ontario head office and if nothing is done about this certain “manager” this company will have lost two valuable customers. I am appalled with the customer service at this location and the manager being a grownwoman definitely was not acting like one and acting more like a child. I’ve talked to people about my experience and apparently I’m not the first to have issues with this woman and after checking past reviews I see her description popping up on low star reviews aswell, the fact that she still has her job and continues to treat customers the way she does says a lot aboutyour company’s “policy.”

if i could give this store a zero i would, not only do they overcharge customers but they are unwilling to do a refund 3 days after it was bought, in its original, untouched packaging. the store manager told me its a “company policy” that they do no refunds, however online, it says within 7 days, as long as i have the receipt and the packaging is in its original condition, i can get a refund. she proceeded to call me stupid and told me i can’t read. this is absolutely unbelievable customer service. i am a store manager myself and i would absolutely never speak to a customer like that. i will probably never be shopping here again. i’ve reached out to head office, but let’s see what they will do about it.

The lady staff wearing a black shirt and glasses was very rude. The way she treated us plus how loudly she spoke regarding her "store's policies" made me and my partner shrink. Side note: She could have just talked to us nicely and with respect like what other sales associates do. I never experienced such poor customer treatment before.

The customer service is top notch, very friendly outgoing staff that all seem eager to assist anyone & everyone.Busy days with a small amount of staff kind of store require us customers being a little bit more understanding & patient.When in a hurry it's easy to feel ignored when their store is busy, but it's easy to tell the staff give 100% to each customer they serve.

7 Day return/exchange policy is ridiculous and not made clear at point of sale. I spend (easily) $200 there twice a year and was not aware of this policy. I purchased a $100 item last Saturday, but the person I bought it for already had it, so I went to return it. This was the first chance I had to return it as the person it was for lives out of town so I brought it there this Saturday. Today I was told in the store I can't return it, exchange it, or get a store credit because it's been over 7 days. Why 7 days? You still would have had my $100 if you exchanged it or gave a credit! Now instead, I will take my business and money elsewhere.

have been a loyal customer of your stores for the past 2 years . I have time and again received great service at your location which is one of the main reasons I shop at your store. But to my surprise, on the date July 3rd 2023 I was at the receiving end of some very poor service at your mart.I was in the day before making some major purchases on some funko pops, we also enquired about pricing and promised to come back again the following day to pick up some more .The following day we noticed overnight prices had changed for some of the funkos and drastic change from $17.99 to $39.99 , politely I asked to speak to the person in charge . The person sitting at the counter, told me the manager was next door to ask her why such a big change in price . So I went next door to meet with This individual , with the manager title by the name Krista . Krista right from the start she had an air of authority , I simply asked politely , why the drastic change in price ? Krista answer was , ( prices change overnight , and that’s what we do, we changed to $39,99) .I decided that wasn’t a good enough explanation I simply asked for head office number , this soo called manager Krista give me a dirty look and with an attitude she writes down the number for me , as she’s writing down the phone number , she stops , looks directly at me and had the audacity to say the following…..(WHY YOU CALLING HEAD OFFICE ?? SO YOU THINK YOUR GONNA GET YOUR WAY )??? right there and then I was just speechless , I looked at Krista and politely with a very low tone of voice at the same time mortified I simply said ( THATS NOT VERY NICE , WHAT YOU JUST SAID TO ME ) …To make things worst this so called manager Krista in front of her employees she replied back and said ( WHY YOU SECOND GUESSING US IS …..)????At that point I realized it was best to just walk away . Which I did .Being an a owner of a company myself , I make sure my employees are trained to respect , my company to respect my customers , to respect people In general . I teach my employees to de-escalate a bad situation and to remember when you speak to our customers you are representing our company ,and to do so with great level of respect and professionalism. If that’s not rendered sorry your no good fit to work for us..Instead, she talked to me very rudely, and told me that if I did not like the prices, I could take my business elsewhere as I was walking away .I was appalled mortified and embarrassed for her at the same time , for she stooped to such low level , by miss representing your company in a very poorly manner , not lady like at all , I could also tell even the young employees were terrified of her , you could tell right away that she’s a bully not only to customers but to her colleagues as wellI hope you would look into the matter, and make sure such an incident is not repeated.Your company has been known to provide good services, and such event tarnishes this company’s future of ran by individuals like Krista .

If zero was an option this would be a zero, I've never had any real issues with this location until this morning and that was enough for me to not only not return but advise others not to also. I was in last night and purchased a magic the gathering card pack for a friend, it was $70.. I said wow that seems like alot for 15 cards. The 2 gentleman explained in fair detail why they were this price and I said "oh ok makes sense" and purchased this pack for my friend. During the interaction they said if you think thats alot the whole box is $599, I said wow thats even more. And went along with my evening. My nephew says to me he actually wanted that set and asked me to pick him up a box and he'd pay me back for it. So... I call this morning 3 minutes after open and spoke to a seemingly pleasant person and I asked if they still had a box. She looked and said she did, I asked the price and before she answered confirmed should be $599? She said yes. I said perfect I probubly can't hold right? She said yes she could hold for a little bit. When getting to the store the price is now $699. When asked why? They said that's the price. When told it's $599 at other stores they told me well you can't pay $599 if there's none available. This is rediculous how something can change by so much after being told one thing. I will most definitly be escalating this issue with Mindgames and Wizards of the coast.
