Really sad place to shop when your staff make assumptions of customers based on their skin colour. Do better.

I LOVE shopping at Farmboy at Trainyards.
Today, I went to get the farmboy coffee and grind it in store but the grinder was broken.
I spoke with the grocery manager and he said he'd grind it in the chef section.
Excellent service and the coffee is delicious (my husband is very picky, but loves this coffee)
Lastly, the fresh cut mango and strawberries are amazing and the ready-made meals for two are awesome!
The staff are all welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
This is my new favorite store to shop at. The prices are comparable to Metro (sometimes better) and the quality is superb!
Thank you for making my shopping experience relaxing and stess free.

After reading that they shamed a man with a hernia and accused him of shoplifting, I will not be back.

Generally speaking I love the shop at Trainyards but last weekend bought the low sodium chicken orzo soup - certainly not up to FB standard. The chicken was so tough I could not even bite into it. I think someone made errors. I probably would not buy it again.

I shop at Farm Boy every week, but I had a really bad experience yesterday evening around 7–7:30 PM. My child started choking and ended up throwing up to get the obstruction out. She was crying and scared, and I was trying to calm her and clean up.
There were three white female cashiers there at the time, including a supervisor, and none of them offered to help nor even give a tissue. The customer in front of me was the one who told them to give me tissues and they all pretended like they didn’t see anything. An associate standing right next to us looked at what was happening and just walked away, he didn’t even give me gloves to clean the mess.
The only person who actually helped was the cashier Juste. He came over once he saw me cleaning the mess and helped me clean up, and made sure my child was okay. I really appreciate his kindness because he was the only one who showed any care in that moment. To the rest of the cashiers and the associate who saw everything and ignored us , I hope this serves as a reminder that empathy and basic humanity matter especially when a child is in distress, sometimes let’s put race aside and treat everyone as humans. To the cashier who came to help us out, may God bless you abundantly!

This place is amazing, their staff are amazing, their products are amazing. Plus its hard to find people working for the extra mile to keep their customers happy but over there the extra mile is part of their job and they do it cause they want to not because they have to.

I don't usually grocery shop here as I live outside of the city. But when I am in town shopping it is a great spot to have lunch. Lots of hot and cold choices and quick and reasonably priced.

Updated Nov 2025. Pleasant staff, pristine environment, although displays are now crowded to make way for additional shelves. FarmBoy may or may not be more expensive than other places but the produce is consistently fresh, so lasts longer than some other chains. Probably steer clear of in-house FarmBoy labelled products. Recently, their quality has taken a real slide downward on every item I used to purchase, SO severely as to be actually inedible. I wonder if the owner (now Sobey's) is prepping for a larger branding 'harmonisation' into the parent company. (-2 stars since original 5-star posting)

Always top notch quality. Ask any staff where something is and they'll take you right to it - great old school service! Real butcher quality meat, cheese selection is huge, hot/cold buffet incl breakfast.
We call it The Store of Dave (manager)!
