Very disappointed with the quality of work and customer service at framing Michaels.
We ordered a custom mat board cut for a pictur frame it was important because the framed artwork was meant to be a gift in two days. The employee assured us it would be ready by the next morning. However, when we came to pick it up, the mat was cut by hand and done very poorly — crooked edges, uneven sides, with some parts narrowing or widening. No one told us it would be hand-cut. Despite the poor quality, we were charged $29 as if it was a precise, professional job When we came back to complain, the employee told us, “If you wanted laser cutting, you'd have to wait two weeks.” This was never mentioned when we placed the order. We asked for a refund, but were told we could either take a piece of cardboard for free without a refund, or buy another piece and only then get our money back — which would cost more than we originally paid.
I had no choice but to take the cardboard home and cut it myself. We wasted time, money, and had to drive to the store twice. The whole situation was stressful and completely avoidable.
Unprofessional experience. The work was poorly done, and the employee showed no accountability or care. I do not recommend this store for custom framing or mat cutting.

Can be quite pricey. Try to get things framed during their sale events. Even then, the cost can be quite high. End products are fantastic though and the staff is very knowledgeable

Not much sense in a larger location if the stock is always depleted... I was looking for polymer clay and spray paints and although there appears to be a good selection, everything outside of the standard was sold out.

Back in July I went to Michael’s to get my University degree framed. They said it would take about three weeks to finish. It has been over a month, I have tried calling and I cannot get a hold of them. They have never given me an update with all of this going on, so now I am worried my degree is lost.

My mom went to get a rare collectors item framed and this location “lost the item”. They have not been helpful in trying to find the item or refund her for the value of the item. Absolutely disappointing. Looks like they delete bad reviews too lol

Found much of the adhesive pricing double or triple what it costs at home depot or walmart

I encountered a problem with the expected readiness date for my print to be framed. The store manager was looking after the framing area and dealt with the matter in the most courteous and professional manner and exceeded our expectations.

Very unsatisfactory experience. Floor workers seemed nice and relatively helpful. The store however was very hot and not airconditioned. The selection was limited and the manager was rude, blunt and had a slight oder of cheese; perhaps related to the lack of air conditioner.

the COVID front door man is annoying and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his authority. We get it. We don't have to be brow beaten at the front door before we enter. They don't have a lot of stock up dates but you can generally find what you are looking for.

Very poor customer service experience. Purchased a mirror with a rip on the paper in the back but the mirror and the frame itself was in brand new condition and in original packaging. Unfortunately it did not match our decor so we attempted to bring it back. We explained very clearly that the item was purchased this way, only to be told very rudely by the store manager Micheal that would not take the item back as a return because he would not sell a "damaged item" in his store. He continued and told us that he could offer us a store credit as he will now have to throw this mirror in the garbage. As a customer of many years I would expect more then being told "take the store credit or nothing at all". The mirror was in the exact same condition as when we bought it. Do yourself a favour, go somewhere else.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love shopping at Michael's. A great place to find a wide range of art supplies. Whether you are into painting, drawing, scrapbooking, planner/bujo, knitting, jewelry making, floral arrangment...whatever you can think of, you will likely find it here. Best part is they carry items that suit all levels of quality and price points. So if you are testing the waters of painting, you can get an inexpensive set of paintbrushes for less than $10 or if you want to splurge or you paint by profession, there are also higher quality items to choose from. They also have a large select of picture frames and shadow boxes. There is also a custom framing service provided in-store. Like most other specialty stores, the items you can find here can be overpriced, that is why I always recommend to people to either wait until the item goes on sale or use the coupons that are available through their app or flyer and never pay regular price. There is always a 40% off one regular priced item coupon available and at least once a week they release coupons for 45-55% off one regular priced item. Be aware that if an item is marked as Everyday Value, you will not be able to use any coupons on the item for further discount. When wandering around the store, always check out their clearance section. You can find items for up to 90% off sometimes. Seasonal/holiday items also go for up to 80% off once the season/holiday is over. It is a great chance to stock up for next year. This particular location is busy, servicing both Stittsville and Kanata. This makes it hard to find the really good deals sometimes as people snatch them up pretty quick, but this store is really good at restocking. The staff are always friendly, the checkout process is smooth, and the store is kept pretty clean. The only issue I have is clarity of signage (which is not only an issue with this particular location), especially with Everyday Value items. It kind of sucks to wait in line just to find out that the item you want, cannot have the discount applied. All-in-all I have no qualms recommending Michael's and this location to people.
