They reject the clothes you bring for sale without even looking at it. They use a general excuse to refuse and lie in your face. I am or was a returning buyer but after todays experience I won't be coming back soon.

Not sure how Plato's Closet is getting so many savage reviews, but I had a great experience there. I went in about a week ago, was greeted by both the girls working - who were both super friendly. I handed over my bags, and she went through them really efficiently - took some items, left the rest. Refolded every item neatly and placed it back into my bag. Would definitely go back again!

Went today to bring in three bags of closets, and these clothes were some adidas, Calvin Klein, and dresses that I payed a good dollar for and they didn’t take any of it, we saw that they had many brands, adidas, champions, and university sweater. They say they take most anything, but many of use bring in closing and they never take any of it. This is my second time bringing in clothing and it is one the worst experience that I’ve had. I would not come back again, “we take most anything if you bring it in we’ll pay you” I say that’s a bunch of lies!!!

I've taken several designer clothing and brand labels to this location on multiple occasions for consignment. Funny enough, the only thing accepted was an old ratty t-shirt that I dug out of my DONATION pile and took for jokes during one of those times. Most recently, I took two Michael Kors purses (to note purses were being advertised as items they were accepting and I was told Michael Kors is a brand they accept). In the end, they did not accept my purses and when asked the rationale they simply stated "uhh i don't know" and no one their could seem to give me a reasoning. Don't even waste your time here... you will have better luck at the other locations.

I’d argue is the worst location in ottawa. The customer service is pretty terrible. We were in tonight and the person sorting was brand new, so sweet, and doing everything. The supervisor and two other employees were chatting and doing nothing the entire 45 minutes we were there. We had an issue and the supervisor was rude both to us and the new staff member doing absolutely everything.

I’m an avid thrifter, with lots of ‘secret spots’—but Plato’s is so great, I CAN’T keep it a secret I’ve literally shared their existence with every single person I like?I’ve both purchased & consigned with them— I take IMMACULATE care of my clothing, and they are hash critics? —to your benefit as a shopper!I brought in a tone of relatively new, gently used lulus— they chose ONE item, which was priced so competitively, there’s practically no point in ever setting foot into a lululemon ever again? It feels good to buy the clothes you want, for MUCH LESS—and to know I’m not feeding into the cycle of fast fashion.I’m talking APLs, UGGs (I got a pair of $150 slide that had been sold out online for $15!!!)— if there’s a relevant brand you love, it’s there.I’m almost regretting writing this, bc imho—It’s a waist of money to not go looking there FIRST!They’ve also recently created an extremely compassionate community initiative, through an upcoming event—and you should definitely check out their socials for more info? They’ve got a shopper for life, in me ?{and all of my friends—and probably you too, soon}Also, looking at some of the negative reviews—You should be glad they’re so selective. I understand as a consigner you’d like to make money, but they are reselling these items for a fraction of the cost. Your clothing depreciates in value 30% automatically upon purchase—then there are other variables to consider; wear, year of release, ‘how used’, does it still have tags? Has it ever been worn? Is this even a relevant brand? They do have to turn ‘some kind of profit’ to continue operating; their function is not to make you money.—even at that, they are literally about to give away a whole bunch of clothing, which would in theory eat at their operational costs.Don’t you want the lovely people who work there to get paid? I certainly do!If you’d like to resell for the same value of your purchase, try an over-saturated online platform. We’ve all got skirts from Jacob’s, and Danier leather jackets in our closets, but they went bankrupt sweetheart? You may have paid a small fortune for them back then, but they aren’t exactly ’desirable’ comparatively—and honestly, maybe your style doesn’t match what they’re going for ??♀️You can’t please all people— but it would be ‘super cool’ for people to stop using reviews as a form of punishment for your personal unhappiness. As a person who is not at all affiliated with Plato’s(other than enjoying the ability to shop there), and has been under the scrutiny of ridiculous reviews in the past— I personally don’t believe SO MUCH credence should be given to the ‘opinions’ of angry people, or their ratings. This system was created with the idea that people would be honest about their experiences—not as a platform for complaints. How can they really improve based on any of the outlined poor rating below?—I’M ANGRY THEY WONT PAY ME MORE MONEY FOR MY USED THINGS I DONT WANT ANYMORE, BUT EXPECT SOMEONE ELSE TO BUY AT FULL PRICE—AND I DONT WANT THEM GETTING A CUT!!! BC I DONT CARE TO THINK ABOUT HOW PEOPLE MAKE A LIVING—THATS CLEARLY NOT MY PROBLEM!Maybe these ratings are BS, hmm? and should perhaps not be acknowledged as ‘fact’ when they are far from it. Conversely, I’m okay if you think MY comment is BS— but I truly don’t believe it is.I’ll say this for ‘opinions vs facts’—I’m glad to have the ability to express THIS opinion as a 3rd party, bc you know what—Someone needs to tell you, other than the store. Clearly.

I brought 5 big bags of barely worn clothes - some still brand new, including shoes - (over 200 pieces) and they ended up only buying 4 shirts. Apparently, “theyre not looking for those styles right now”. Ironically, the clothes they sell on the racks were in worse condition than mine and priced just under retail when new.I will say the staff is friendly but you better hope they like your style because the whole operation relies on the cashier’s taste in clothes to fill inventory. Thanks for the 13$ i guess? Not worth it.

I recently took part in an awesome event that this location organized; It was a free event featuring all of the remaining clearance items! It was run on a first come first serve basis and each customer was welcomed to take up to 10 free items. Yes FREE! Me and my sister went together and were blown away by the turn out! We found some great things, and I just wanted to come on here and say how awesome that event was. I love the St. Laurent location and big shoutout to the team who ran the event. Thanks a bunch!

This place has the most stylish second hand clothing shop in town. I can always find a cute dress for 10$ and I found all my honeymoon outfits here. The shoes selection is clean and they have a massive amount of gymshark and lululemon for athletic clothing lovers. You even have the option to trade in your gently used brand name clothing. I love the fact that this place brings to life clothes that are basically still perfect! It's a great way to save money and be eco-friendly at the same time. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who loves fashion and bargains. Plus they often have SALES. Go go go!

love the store usually, however when it comes to dresses they're not very size inclusive... I'm usually a size large, sometimes extra large, but neither of those sizes fit me here. Ended up leaving without what I actually came here to get. Great otherwise though, staff is very friendly.

Absolutely waist of time, not only had to wait around the city for them to ravage through my 6 full bags that I had all folded by categories, they took nothing, not even the good brands, they say it’s lack of inventory, I had stuff that was on their board so, they are just picky. Funny cause I saw nothing that they sell that’s actually nice or worth the price tag. Might as well bring my stuff to give away to charity, they don’t sell to overcharge people for used clothe they Plato does.

Really great selection of clothes! Personally I liked it better than Merivale location because it’s smaller and less overwhelming, yet their selection is on point!!!! Employees were very attentive and helpful! Really loved shopping there! Definitely my new favourite Plato’s location and second hand store in Ottawa!

Staff were cold, there were a few items that I was suprised they didn't take (Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, Mamut etc.) and they never explained why they didn't want them. The price they did offer for the 1 item they wanted was pitiful. Overall a waste of time and I wouldn't really recommend if you want to sell your clothes.

I went there on the 15th of March at 7:30pm. When I dropped off my clothes at the store, I took great care to fold them neatly, as if they were brand new. However, when I went to pick the rest of my clothes up, I was shocked to find that they had been thrown by the young man working there into the bag like garbage, when i made the remark to him he just giggled to my face. It would have been much appreciated if the employee had taken the time to fold them back the way they were. This lack of respect is unacceptable, and I cannot recommend this store to anyone. It is my hope that the store owner will take steps to train their employees to treat customers with the proper respect they deserve.

Walked in today to drop off clothing and everyone working there were super warm and greeted us sweetly! They went through all my items very quickly and were incredibly helpful! Julia especially! Clean store, good music, kind staff and overall awesome atmosphere!
