This review is only for the manager. The manager in this location publicly humiliated my family and I. It's quit a long story. I had a bad interaction with her one day so the next time i came in with my whole family to deposit a cheque she was more aggressive to our situation. It felt like we were getting interrogated. My wife is new to the country and doesn't know english. They brought in an translator and my wife had to tell her you know this is not by force and we're just trying to pay rent. The employees wont know what im talking about because it was only me and her during our first interaction, so they wont understand the context of the second interaction. When we left we discovered that we can't pay gas with her scotiabank visa credit card through the gas pump. It said we have to go inside. This feels like discrimination. Just because my wife wears a hijab doesn't mean she's oppressed by me. I gave up my whole life and worked for years to get my family here. I've been coming to this location for about 4yrs. One of your great employees even helped me when I was overseas. Going above and beyond her duty during my toughest times trying to get my wife here; Maria may God bless her soul. The next time I went in, it was awkward and embarrassing. If it was a male or immigrant female manager, they would've been more compassionate towards our situation by seeing that I'm a husband carrying his daughter and my wife carrying our baby boy. Instead I had Karen assuming that I'm oppressing my hijaby wife.

They just stole $120 from me and my business.I counted the money in front of the teller and make it out in order, organized as i did so so that she could verify as i went.Apparently she wasn't paying attention. She also doesn't like counting money. She collected the funds from the counter and it them into a counting machine. She came up with 120 less than i just counted to her.I asked if we could recount together physically as I've seen machines error in banks before. She had already "pressed the button" as another staff said that Fisher the money so it is not able to come out. So the counting machine are now immediate deposits. So if there is a discrepancy, you can not be given the opportunity to correct the situation.This started by my going to the bank Friday after they closed to make a deposit, got machines were out of service. I had to wait until after the weekend to have another machine miscount my money because staff are unable to count themselves.I will not be using this branch further. And likely to change my business account to another bank all together.The business hours are terrible and they just started yet another business and client.

Nov19/22 I went to South Gate Scotiabank on Saturday to open an account for my daughter. The gentleman was sincere in telling me, the staff was booked up, so we tried this location. The woman that greeted us was so sweet. She didn’t think there was a open appointment but she went and checked. She came back and asked us if we could hang out for a few mins, and someone would accommodate us. My daughter was so excited. I sincerely wish I remembered the woman’s name that served us. Also her colleague that helped us complete the process. Those two really made us feel like we’ve met many times. It’s the staff that keep clients coming back; those ladies nailed it! I also learned, that the employee at Southgate, called Alta Vista, before we arrived to let them know i was disappointed he couldn’t help us. I appreciate that.Thanks again,The Simpsons.

By far the worst location in Ottawa. If you need help with any thing you'll be told to call customer service. Went to another Scotiabank and they helped me no problem. Lying and lazy staff who don't want to do their jobs. I asked the staff member if they knew how long e-transfers would take to arrive in an account and they said they had no way of knowing. Except that I already knew, because it was listed on their website. I did it to see if these people would be willing to do even a semblance of their job and they couldn't even answer a simple question without directing me to their 1-800 number. Ridiculous and horrible service. I will go elsewhere every time. I cannot ever recommend you step foot inside this dirty, dingy, gross location either. It smells like mold and looks like it hasn't seen a good clean since the 80s. Will never go back.

I like this branch even though is not my own branch, because they are open Saturdays too. I have used their services over several years and I am quite pleased with service level. Last month Scotia Call Centre made mistake and booked my appointment in Bank Street and Hunt Club while I had several times asked for Bank Street and Alta Vista... once there in time they told me I am in wrong place! Elham El-Kobrossi in front desk was very helpful and customer centric... instead of just rejecting us (my wife and I had both taken time off work to go there and were in rush), she made several phone calls to nearby branches and her own coworkers and finally with short delay arranged for us an appointment in same branch with Caleb Button who was both Financial Advisor and Mutual Fund Rep and was able to handle our issue. Thanks Elham for great friendly service and Thanks Caleb for helping us promptly.

Tried to open a new account, the worst experience. Incompetent front desk that knows 0 information about their bank. Staff was not welcoming at all, left and will not be coming back.

I wish I can give 0 star! First of all, the phone service give me the wrong address for an appointment! disappointed! And the customer service at the tailer is even worse! Don't even what to serve, and provide different information. The branch manager is just behind the guys, she doesn't even bother to come out when see there is an issue! NOT recommanded!
