The 1840s General Store & Bakery in Pakenham is a must-see whether you're a local or just passing through. It is stocked with reasonably priced grocery items and fresh-baked goods daily, along with camping essentials, fishing supplies, greeting cards, and gifts. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, offering history lessons about the store. It is the best bakery around, famous for the best sandwiches, made with fresh homemade bread, fresh garden veggies, and love. The food is to die for, with good smoked meat sandwiches and sweet butter tarts. There is a little spot to eat outside. Many customers highly recommend stopping in.

Came here with a local friend. Had a sandwich. Bread was fresh and soft, lettuce and tomato was fresh, portions of meat on sandwich were generous. A great sandwich. Had a rhubarb butter tart for dessert. Yummy. Place was clean. Service was great.

The fudge is unreal. Polish sausage hit the spot and the maple rhubarb tarts are out of this world. First time there and I was impressed by everything I ate. Also open on canada day. This place is a place to try for anyone looking to satisfy their taste buds
