Love this store and the staff that work there. Used to work downtown and choose to continue to go to this store even though I have retired. Staff always so pleasant and helpful.
I was there today to get a bulb for my fridge and a fuse for my stove and wanted to exchange a can of spray paint I bought months ago (I bought 2 and only used one) and when I went to use it, nothing came out. Tried various times to no success. So I took it with me expecting to be able to exchange the can. It wasn’t that old but the paint wouldn’t come out. Because I didn’t have my receipt and the only activity in there history on the system was purchased in 2023, they wouldn’t do anything about it. I didn’t realize spray paint cans had such a short shelf life. Very disappointed as these cans aren’t cheap and I buy many often for my various projects but this has left a bad taste and I’ll take my business elsewhere. At least for spray paint.

This is my favourite shop in Peterborough. Staff are incredibly helpful and they have such a great variety of things that you wouldn't expect in a small store.
And the bulk fasteners/nuts/bolts aisle is a dream for problem solving little fixes of things.

Kingan Home Hardware undermines the dignity of their patrons and fosters discrimination and division within our community. I shopped here regularly since moving to Peterborough. Recently as I entered the store was required to hand over all of my belongings for scrutiny. I spoke with the manager who told me in plain English that vilifying destitute minorities justified this practice; desperate people cant go unpunished. Absolutely disgusting attitude. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and consideration.

Terrible service I walked in and was the only customer , walked by two men who did not acknowledge me.. looked for the product I needed for a few minutes… the two men stood behind their station together ignoring me… I found what I needed and walked past them again with no acknowledgement! I guess they were too busy !!!!! Unfortunately I needed the product so I did purchase it but I will never again chose to support this downtown small business!!!

Was asked to leave backpack at front and had no issue with that but while I was checking out a girl walked right past with a backpack and they never said anything I had to bring it up to them they are judgemental you can't pick and choose who you in force the rules on .

Was asked to leave my backpack at the front which I understood and agreed to.I then saw a couple of older women with purses. I asked why they weren't asked to leave their bags at the cash. I was told because a purse is not a backpack.My backpack had my keys and other personal belongings in it, same as a purse.I feel like I was being profiled because I'm a young man, while these older women get a pass because of how they appear. The rule should be across the board for everyone. Older women are just as capable of theft as a young man is.I've been a regular here for years but as of recently I am starting to feel very judged while shopping and might find somewhere new to go.

The staff here are incredible. Sharon, Sherri x2, Rod, Amy, Patricia, Lynn and everyone else are just the most wonderful people and we look forward to going in. My dog especially loves it in here.
