I had one of those rare “wait… did that just happen?” experiences at the Pickering RONA, entirely thanks to Haydon.
For context, I’m not big on big-box stores for plumbing materials — my primary go-to is plumbing-specific suppliers. But in a pinch, you don’t always have a choice. What I didn’t expect was to be genuinely taken aback by the level of service.
Haydon was knowledgeable, calm, and not pushy at all. He actually stayed with us moving aisle to aisle, helped answer questions, made solid recommendations, and suggested signing up for the contractor VIP program without it feeling like a sales pitch.
If I’m being honest, my usual big-box fallback has been the orange store due to stock and pricing — but finding help there often feels like a game of hide-and-seek where the staff always wins. So receiving this level of service at RONA was a welcome surprise.
I don’t know what Haydon’s long-term trajectory is with RONA, but this is exactly the type of employee you want front-and-centre. He knows his stuff and understands the value of customer service in a competitive market.
Because of him, RONA earned repeat business from someone who didn’t expect it. Well done.

Poorly managed location. Visited on a few occasions and had the same negative experience. Stock per aisle fails to match online information which causes people to search aimlessly and waste their time. Some aisle listed online don't even physically exist in the store.
Furthermore, for a company that prides itself as being Canadian owned, often times employees are having a conversation in a language I cannot speak or understand and when I'm need of assistance, I'm greeted poorly or there is zero acknowledgement. Unfortunately, my colleagues and family members have had a similar, if not the same experience.
It's rare for me to leave an establishment empty handed, however this location fails to serve it's customers. Rona has certainly lost it's value.

I went to Rona after exploring many places to try to fix a table leg (a very old table). Sardar was available to help me and went above and beyond expectations as he fixed the table leg when no other place I went to could! He was patient, kind and professional as well. To say I am over the moon is an understatement and it was all because of Sardar. Thank you!!

I'm the luckiest customer!!! Today, I had two appliances delivered to my home. The delivery men were not able to install and hook up my washer and dryer. I called Rona+ spoke to the store manager, Ramsey. The next thing I know, Ramsey and the assistant manager, Alex, came to my home and installed and hooked up my washer and dryer. I was beyond myself. I didn't have to wait a day or delay my laundry for a weekend. My appliance was hooked up and installed instantly. Thank you, Ramsey and Alex. This is the most extraordinary, unbeatable service I have ever had in my life. This Rona+ in Pickering is the BEST. The staff are amazing. Try them, you'll not regret!!! Seriously. Thanks Rona+ Pickering! 😊
