As much as I love dogs and appreciate the work that Municipal dog shelters do, I didn't have a good experience here. I went in and asked to see what dogs they had. We were considering getting a playmate for our dog. The girl there said that I am not allowed to see them, they would just tell me what they had. I asked how is a person supposed to get to judge a dog just by what you tell me? She answered that they don't want to get the dogs upset. I think she must have been new.

We took in a stray sick cat. He is a beautiful friendly boy. They have him on an antibiotic and he is doing much better. He will receive his shots and be neutered and Hopefully find a loving home. I can't say enough about all the good things this animal shelter does to help these animalsThey are wonderful !!!!

This is the first time I've adopted a cat and the staff at the Centre made it so easy. They helped me find a great cat. The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable and you can see they really care for these animals. Highly recommended!

Amazing staff, very caring and compassionate. I adopted my Princess (a beagle mix) here. She was so very well taken care of and they made sure I would be a responsible care giver. She is now the greatest joy in our lives. Thanks to the love she got from the staff, she still trust people with unconditional love.

Not a very well-known dog park. But it is open every day From Dusk Till Dawn but I don't believe they actually lock the gates. So if you're willing to face the bugs in the evening go for it. They have a smaller section fenced-off for dogs that do not like to be surrounded by bigger dogs. So if you have a puppy or a dog who doesn't want to play rough you can keep him in the smaller fenced-off area. There are water bowls out and there seems to always be someone bringing water to top up the bowls. There are some chairs that people have brought and left there for everyone to use as well as a picnic table. There are lots of trees there for lots of shade available during any time of the day. The only issue I have is that the ground is a little bit rough. There are tripping hazards for humans as well as dogs. Things like Roots, cut off stumps, and in ground rocks could cause a tripping Hazard especially if you're not stable on your feet. The people I have met there tend to be very friendly and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants their dog off-leash and to play with other dogs. You must Pick Up After Your Dog but they do provide a bin to place your poop bags. If you forget your poop bags there are some located on the fence in a little mailbox there. bring some water just in case the Bulls are empty and share it with other dogs as well as yours. Get this dog park it is behind s a cawker public school. It is on the west side of the soccer field. You have to drive south down a dirt road just east of the hockey arena.

They have a knack for rehoming the pets that come into the shelter. They really are not there long at all?

Extremely caring, friendly and very clean facilities. The staff know the personality of each pet and are, in a kind way not afraid to share any concern about any animal they feel would not be a good match and why. Having bred Collies and Shelties for many years and learned most of my breeding practices from a Setter Kennel, in BC as Irish Setters were the breed I adored as a teen. It was amazing being on the other end of what I did for years and helpful for us. We were given plenty of time with the cats they had at the time. They remain interested after you adopt an animal; answer questions, offer advice and love to know how your new family member is working out. The cherry on the sundae was discovering this shelter is a no-killShelter, the only one of many I have been to. I would have no problem recommending this Shelter to anyone who would be a good home to an animal of their choice. Mr. Chips (alias Thatcher) is a valuable member of our family...a playful clown and an affectionate buddy and last, but not least, a remarkable mouser❣️
