Future clients Of Meridian bank- be carefull!!! Meridian bank back office work style is soo bad! i opened in august 2024 two bank account . 16 august i deposited to my businees account a cheque from work. after 7 business day the hold was off. i came to bank asked if i can use amount? they said yes. and i took 30% of my cheque money. after 2 day bank called me and telling your account is closed. without giving any information-“why”?! i came to bank again and asked how it can be like that. they said the bank which am provided cheque is called money back. i called the owner a cheque and they sent me a photo proof that money was out from account on time. not any problem from their side. i provided to Meridian bank representetive a photo proof of statement of that cheque. they said they will send this to their back office. just wait.(it happened 30 of august). i cant use my bank account, bcs on hold. 3rd and 4rd september i called them by phone any for any update. they said 3rd september they will call me back end of the day( nobody called back). and 4rd september i called branch again and they told me they will call me back. I waited till end of work time and called again why they didnt respond to me? they told you can use your money, but we closed your account. I asked why? give me any information and i will provide to my accountant or lawyer to understand this issue. they said we cant provide any info. now who read this comment understand my situation.- you open account, your credit score went down(when checked credit score), then your account closed without any info(as we can do what ever we want!) . Now for again to raise your score you need couple month. also you waste your time to come each time to branch. now when decided to make any deal with this bank, pls think 2 times . probably you will be in my situation! i am not telling branch workers are bad, i am telling who seat in head office, or back office dont know their job properly! I want explanation letter to be provided to me why without any reason Meridian bank back office closed my account?! i will not stop till i get my answer!

This bank's 8-day hold policy not only disrupts my financial plans but also makes me question the institution's trustworthiness. It's frustrating that they can put my funds on hold for such an extended period, with little transparency or communication. It's like they have no regard for the fact that people depend on their money to cover bills, buy necessities, and live their lives. This policy is a glaring example of how out of touch this bank is with the needs and expectations of its customers, and I strongly discourage anyone from banking here.

I can’t say enough great things about this particular location . The staff is extremely kind courteous and make me feel welcome. I am very impressed with how personalized and detailed they are when it comes to assisting me in my financial needs.

Superior customer service from this A lender!Tammy E. was always super helpful, caring and professional. She always went above and beyond to ensure I received the utmost assistance and benefits. She truly put my needs and interests above all else.I just had the pleasure of meeting branch manager Jordan. I can now see why this branch is so professional and customer service oriented. Kudos to Meridian and everyone at the Richmond Hill branch for being the top A lender in my book.

When we bought our house 6 years ago we got a mortgage from Meridian and it was a good experience. However, with time they are turning more and more into a big bank, but without the resources of a big bank. People are still friendly, but the additional bureaucracy slows things down considerably. I am in the process of making changes to my HELOC which seems to be taking forever. It's taken almost 3 months so far, and still ongoing.

As another reviewer has previously written, dealing with this financial institution can be considered a pleasure. There is no pushing of product on my husband and I, and we are always treated with respect. Whether you have a 'white-collar' job, or a 'blue-collar' one and rush in with your dirty work clothes on, you are treated the same.After our first experience with this Meridian credit union, and dealing with one young man in particular (I won't mention his name due to respecting his privacy) we were very impressed with his efficiency and how truly nice he was to deal with.With so many complaints you hear about 'The Big Banks', I can honestly write that dealing with this credit union is a much different - and much better - experience.Edit:My husband and I just met our new MCU service rep, due to our former long time rep receiving a promotion. Mike made the transition seamless, introducing us to his former co-worker Jordan. Jordan was personable,-friendly and very efficient. It is always difficult to say goodbye to a valued business relationship, but we are very happy that there is a very nice young man that we now have the pleasure of dealing with.

Unlike Mr. Kam’s review (funny: when someone writes so much detail and on behalf of someone else you wonder what really transpired), I find the staff at the Richmond Hill branch extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. 100% better than the big banks! I will be a client forever!

My client has an account with Meridian, they deposited few drafts into their account, since they bought a house and they needed the funds from their account to do their closing we were surprised to find that meridian will put a hold on your money even if it is a draft for 10 business days, after multiple efforts we asked them to verify the draft with the bank that the draft was originated from, Meridian mentioned to us that they had faxed BMO and waiting for an answer, we went to BMO following up on the fax received from Meridian and found that the BMO was never faxed, Meriden manager had lied to us, later once we confronted Meridian they changed the story telling us that they had called BMO and that BMO had not responded to them, during the whole process of us visiting Meridian we found that staff are extremely rude with no manners, you ask them to do their job right and they will confront you with the gang of other workers at the branch and a manager supporting the rude behavior of the team, be careful with these credit unions they will hold your money and make you beg for the money that belongs to you when you need it the most, because of Meridian and the inefficiency of the staff of this bank in a simple verification of a draft, my client ended up borrowing from a private lender facing extremely high fees just because Meridian did not want to simply verify the draft, a simple fax or call to BMO would have saved us fees and hassle, the story of not verifying the cheque is one thing, staff lying to us is another thing, and once you ask them to do their job they will accuse you of interfering, anyways after a heated conversation between I and the bank another Meridian staff approaches me saying if you are in good terms with us we would have given you referrals, trying to bribe me? why??? because I told them I will escalade this matter to a lawsuit. Beware and do not work with this credit union, given that I am a realtor and I had similar experiences with other major banks I have seen these sorts of issues resolved within minutes with few simple calls made by banks.Given the large volume of clientele that I have I will never advise any of my clients to choose Meridian and I will never do business with Meridian...Just updating my review it has now been 4 days that I have asked the district manager to call me and no one has contacted me yet for an explanation. Seems like they do not care.

Unfortunatlly,nobody at this location knows how to do a money order. I waited there for 1 hour for them to ask each other how to do money order and in the end they asked me to go to another bank. This is not acceptable.

Meridian has some great offers that are not available at the big 5 banks, I am happy to be a member of this credit union.

Staff have no proper training. It took them 2 hours to do a money transfer for me. They also don't know how to do money order.
