Very nice store owners. They are cautious, but they don't stare at you and watch your every move like some places do. They are grateful for their customers. Prices are fair. I've been coming here since I moved from Welland around 2 years ago❤

This convenience store is the best in the downtown area. Has everything you might need from a convenience store close to home or work. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, overall a perfect store to have close to my home.

I just moved in practically next door and I could not have been more pleasantly surprised by this amazing corner shop. The friendliness of the owners welcoming me made my heart swell! They have everything you need in a pinch. Prices cannot be beat either! I was initially leery about living downtown but if Kit Kat is any indication..... I believe I've made the right choice!

I never met a man as rude as one man who worked there. I was just asking a question about a product they sell and got treated as if I said something offensive as he raised his voice at me. Never stepped in that store again.

Excellent family run business for many years!!!! Not an average "corner store" because you can get more variety. They gave fresh bananas, olives, cheese, baked goods, fruit in season etc. as well as baking supplies etc... Reminds me of my family's store back in the 70's...

Best convenience store ever converted from a home. Best service in town; they've always treated me like family. I'll always stop here first for cigarettes or any other conveniences, no matter the price. But it's always reasonable too.

I've lived across the street from them for 2 years in the large student house, amd Bill and his family have been amazing. They always have what I need in a pinch, and he even told me if i want something, tell him and he can try to have it in the next week. Always great, always friendly.

On the corner of King and Academy Streets is the Kit Kat Corner Store that has been owned by the same family since at least 1981 (When I lived with my brother on Academy Street). I remember the proprietor from that era because he once surprised me asking how my Dad was. I later learned that in addition to doing his shifts at the store he also worked at GM. Not since I was a kid did feel the connection of my community knowing that there were adults in the western hill keeping an eye on us kids as we played, sometimes taking our lives in our hands around treacherous watercourses. There is not a lot of difference in the pictures above because not a lot has changed, least of all the compassion that the owner has for his neighbour’s. Last week I visited the store just as he was wrapping up some business with a spotty-faced young man.As he was gathering his provisions, I overheard the young man thanking the owner and saying, "That's great I'll see you Friday". I waited as the owner picked up a pen and without much attention to what he was doing wrote something on a figuring pad located by the cash register. It could not have been more than a scribble and I thought to myself that he and I both knew that there is a chance that young man is not coming back. And if he doesn't there's no amount of bookkeeping in the world that will make him more honest. It heartens me to think that this retired gentleman working now as a senior citizen in his own small business and without any fanfare chose to let $15 worth of merchandise walk out the door so someone could eat that day. There are a lot of heroes in the world right now and he is one of them. If you are rolling through downtown, take a moment to stop by the Kit Kat Store. Pick up a newspaper or some tea bags and let him know that we too can pay it forward.
