I have supported the Tillsonburg Arden's Store for many years and have always felt appreciated and found the staff to be very courteous., Until yesterday afternoon. I went into the store and purchased two coverups before proceeding to Walmart to pick up a few items that I needed. After getting the items which was a ladderball game, Camp fresh, a Coke Zero and. Mars bar, the cashier asked if I wanted to buy a bag and I said no that I would just put the camp fresh in the 10 cent bag I purchased at Ardene's, carry the ladderball game and put the Coke Zero and chocolate bar in my purse along with the receipt. As I was walking past Arden's again I noticed a sale rack of dresses and stoped to check them out. I picked out three dresses and asked the employee if I could try them on. She said of course and asked how many to which I replied, "three". She counted them, then told me to leave my ladderball game and small shopping bag at the counter. She told me to put them on the small table, unprotected, beside the cash register. I agreed but said I would stay with my things until she unlocked the dressing room and came back as I felt the were not safe from someone possibly walking off with them. She told me to bring all the items back to her and I agreed. As I handed her the three dresses she said, "next time you have to leave your purse too.". I was in utter disbelief and said I would not ever leave my purse nor could she lawfully ask me to do so! I can't believe she thought it was appropriate to ask to Leave my credit cards, cash, phone and other valuable personal content in my Kate Spade purse in trust of her! I said that being the case I would never shop there again, which I won't!, and she replied with A snide comment and a rude bye-bye. I am 65 years old and did not deserve to be treated In this manner! The person in the change room beside me, was not asked to leave her purse at the counter. I am an upstanding resident of this town and will not get over being insulted like I was a street thief!! To all the ladies shopping at Ardene's, know this, it is not legal to ask for your purse to remain at the counter while you are in the dressing room. They may ask for backpacks and parcels which is understandable, but this store needs a better system in doing so than just leaving your parcels out in the open. To the person that assisted me and and said that next time I had to leave my purse, You need to get educated and trained on the proper etiquette of a customer service person and know the laws of what items you can legally hold from a customer while trying on clothes! Because of your behavior, I will never return to the Ardene Tillsonburg Store. I will now travel outside of Tillsonburg for all my clothing purchases!

I received a response from the district manager and I am very satisfied with the corrective measures that have been implemented to ensure my experience will never happen again, to myself or anyone else. They were genuinely concerned and sincerely sorry that it happened in the first place. Though my review is showing a one star, Head Office staff and the district Manager deserve a five star for ensuring proper policies are put in place and followed by all staff. Thank you again for acting so quickly to resolve this matter and taking the steps to re-examine and change store policies that could have needlessly caused serious consequences.
I also would like to acknowledge that 99% of the Tillsonburg staff go above and beyond to be helpful and courteous, therefore also deserving five stars for their customer service performance. I feel confident that in time, the Tillsonburg branch will return to be my favourite go to store that I have always enjoyed shopping at.*****.

I stopped in to pick up a gift for my wife. Smaller store alot of 2 for 1 deals. Prices seem reasonable service was excellent.l got a good deal and saved myself some money.

Some neat clothing items but beware: sizing is way off, and clothing is inexpensive so quality isn't high (don't expect to keep these clothes forever). Return policy isn't the best, but staff are friendly.

Good place to buy clothes when on sale. Caters to school-age/teens. Cheaply made clothing that is overpriced when paying full price.
