Nice view of the water, affordable, clean and walking distance from everything. The rooms might be a bit small, but for the price you pay, it’s worth it. You can check in and out at any time (almost) since it’s self-check. The cleaning person was very nice and polite and made sure everything was to our liking.

Honestly there is a whole lot of complainers in this review section. Tobermory Inn & Suites was very upfront about the ongoing construction. It was not intrusive during my stay. They even sent an additional email after booking to make sure you were aware prior to arrival. The location is pretty nice and the balcony view of the water is great. The accommodations in the room are minimal. There is a AC wall unit, TV, microwave, and fridge (no freezer). Definitely a mildew smell in the bathrooms and the cleaning of the sink area could have been more thorough. Despite this, I honestly have no major complaints. Tobermory is a tourist town and this was one of the cheapest lodging options we could find. Don’t expect luxury if you aren’t paying luxury prices. Rent one of the $1000 per day houses on the water if you want to be a complainer.

Are you looking for a place that will leave a musty stain on your trip & smells like stale beer? You’ve come to the right place!!! Read on fellow traveler, this is an "experience" you'll want to miss - like getting pick-pocketed in Rome.Upon arriving you’ll be confused thinking “there’s no way this is the place”. After all, it’s nothing more than set of run down buildings from the 60s. Most windows are boarded up, and the few that aren't give you a great look at what was once an active construction site 5 years ago - only it just kind of stopped being renovated and left to decay since then. The dug up swimming pool (sorry, muddy hole in the ground) out front is a nice touch.Front desk? Nope! But there is an unlocked door that leads into what was possibly a lobby at some point? Pot lights hang from the ceiling & debris is everywhere. Everything is destroyed (literally). The little bit of work that was done looked shoddy at best.Around back looked to be some rooms, so I ventured there. Drywall is rotting and moldy, laying outside for probably years now. I suppose this is the DIY penicillin buffet? Tough to say. Finally I find the lock boxes. This is where the "self service" aspect of your stay really begins, and you're on-your-own from this point forward. Good luck! After a narrow flight of stairs, you immediately get hit with the smell of stale booze and mold as you discover about 10 rooms.I opened mine to be greeted with a hole in the wall patched up with decorative duct tape. Mismatched furniture spanning a couple decades litters the room. The bathroom faucet leaked, the tub is beaten to all heck, and the "towels" are from the $4.99 IKEA collection, only they're severely frayed, have bleach stains all over them, and should have been retired when Trudeau was still Prime Minister (the father, not the son). If for some reason you misplace one, don't worry - there's a $50/missing towel charge levied against your credit card. It should come as little surprise that when showering the water pressure is touch-and-go depending if the person down the hall flushes their toilet or not.As you settle in and turn on the air conditioner, you're no longer settled as the thing has the calming effects of a fog horn. The barely working mini-fridge stinks like mildew. Gross.Turning on the TV, there's no channels available. It's a ROKU TV, so I load some free Internet channel. Only, there's no working sound. I've had enough. I call Hassan the "manager". He lives there, just down the hall. He tells me that the TV is DIY and I can watch my own Netflix, but they don't supply any channels. I point out all the other problems. He just shrugs his shoulders and leaves.- WiFi barely usable- No maid service- Dirty sheets- Super soft & saggy beds- Moldy bathroomSo, if you want to stay in an abandoned construction site from 2015, you're in luck! Otherwise, this is just some dude who preys on people who haven't checked the reviews prior (like myself). It possibly could have been acceptable 10 years ago, but it's horrific today and based on other reviews, it's been like this for many years.I'll be talking to my credit card company for a possible chargeback. My advice? Sleep in your car. It'll be a better experience. Seriously.

After you book online no front desk you get an email to say they are under renovation. They failed to say complete construction. Pictures are not accurate at this time. No coffee maker no ice bleach mark towels one room had a portable sir conditioner one room no blow dryer. Bathrooms still need work. The beds and comforter seemed new. Not many rooms open.

I wanted to run as soon as I arrived. No wonder there is no manager or anyone on site; I would be embarrassed to rent this "hell hole" to anyone! The owners are hiding for a reason.debris; old lumber and rocks ; dirt everywhere; this place is an eyesore but they hide it well on the photos $202 !!; I'm being honest people. I would recommend you try " Big Tub resort" or "Bruce Anchor " motel .this place is horrible! Tiny rooms, no coffee ; it's extremely dark at night so you can't see a thing outside the doors .Be careful because the steps have nails sticking out .wifi is almost non existent.the bathrooms are tiny and gross ; I discovered little insects all over the sink and counter; mold on bathtub walls; the shower knob fell off in my hand ; the view is ok ; you have a balcony with views to run down cabins that are about 150 years old.the area around this dump ; is dirt; rocks and old wood pieces.you can barely see the lake beyond the rubble and dirt. THE beds are tiny ; supposed to be queen beds but they are twin size.No COFFEE! No barbecue, nothing.other reviews are correct.RUN! This place is unsafe! Far away from the very few stores ; restaurants as well.it sucks! For $202 !!I got ripped off! Please don't bother.Im trying to save others from this horrible nightmare and disappointment. 100% honest .

This place is a horror show! Disgusting example of slum-lord owners trying to pass off a lousy run down and torn apart property to unsuspecting tourists looking for a place to stay. The whole gong show of texting you a lock box code is a huge joke, once you can finally reach anyone, they blame all of the problems on their head office. This is an un-manned site, completely torn apart and under construction. STAY AWAY!!!

You can't beat the location, and the man who runs the place is top notch. therefore, all your needs and information will be back again. For sure, it is a great place.

I booked June 2nd and my credit card was charged right away. Received an email on instructions for checking in. A lock box with keys in. No check in or out. Room wasn't ready so had to call a number to get pillow cases and wash clothes. Dirt on bathroom floor. Tape over holes in dry wall in washroom. Bandaid on a hole in the screen. We were joking that thus must be thae bates hotel as we didn't see any other guests. And part of the hotel was under construction. The room air conditioner was vented with a hole in the wall. Should have been closed.

How do you rate a half finished work in progress? Our stay at this Inn was a first-time experience for us. We 2 were the only people on site. No staff, no guests just us. Our nights rest was fine, the room and bathroom were clean, the bed was supportive and well appointed, the balcony was enjoyed. However, the rest of the Inn makes the site appear to be someone's dream that ran out of money. There is definitely a lot of work yet to be done to make the place liveable for most guests. Four stars for the room but minus 2 stars for the site. I feel the booking site "Google" could be a little more upfront about the current conditions at this Inn. The Inn management mentioned self check-in & out, which we were ok with in their email, but it was not until the final email with instructions were the words "at time of renovation" used. The rate we paid was well below normal "in season" rates at other Tobermory motels. We will check out this Inn on future visits to Tobermory to see the finished results of this major re-build.
