My husband and I were circling around the basement floor of St Lawrence Market in Toronto. We stopped by at Chocosol because I saw the word "stone ground". It reminded me of a different chocolate store I love in Massachusetts, who also adopted the same technique.
The lady explained much about the chocolates, offering me free samples. Of course, she offered the best seller first: Vanilla Sea Salt 65%. The taste was smooth, it has very good quality.
But the most amazing part is the fact that she was not the owner! Robin worked since 2006 when the company started. She has good knowledge about the products, the history, and the vision.
When an employee is as passionate as the owner, it means that the company is good. I genuinely believe Chocosol is a superstar. No doubt about the taste, no doubt about the service, no doubt about all the good work they do for the community.

Tried ChocoSol yesterday for the first time at a Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) event at Bellwoods Brewery where they had a pop-up stand, and it's hands down some of the best chocolate/cacao I've ever had. Fresh, unique ingredient combinations, and super friendly staff.

Update: I am still an unofficial salesperson for ChocoSol. I tell everyone about their sustainable and ethical practices and their amazing products! I recently had a mixup with an online order, and their customer service exceeded my expectations. Thank you, ChocoSol. ?
Original post: I highly recommend Chocosol, in fact, I only buy chocolate from Chocosol! Their chocolate is made without common allergens (dairy-free, nut-free and gluten-free) and their chocolate is between 65%-100%. Their chocolate not only tastes amazing, but is made sustainably (socially and ecologically) which is a huge contributing factor for me.
They work directly with the farmers, they pay the farmers more than what is considered fair-trade, they source what they can locally, they transport the raw materials via trains, trucks and boats instead of planes, they use biodegradable packaging and plant-based printing, they strongly encourage bringing your own containers to their shop/farmer's markets AND they create & support regenerative food forests - which is huge!!!
For those who are allergic to nuts, they grow an albino cacao which they call Jaguar and it is so creamy with nutty undertones. I highly recommend the Jaguar Pure or Jaguar Swirl (combination of albino cacao and red cacao). I also highly recommend the powerhouse Alegria (popped amaranth, pumpkin seeds, cranberries and cacao nibs). Check out their website or storefront, they have something for everyone!!
Last but not least, everyone that I have met from the Chocosol team is eager to share their knowledge and passion for what they do. Heck, I tell everyone about Chocosol and I don't even work for the company!

Excellent coffee and they give you a small sample of hand crafted chocolate with each drink. Went today for coffee and got a premium chocolate bar. Wonderful service.

Cute little place. Gentleman at the counter was very friendly and offered us sample tasters to help pick out some chocolate bars.
Picked up 3 different dark bars.
Also had to try their classic drinking chocolate. Not quite the same as "drinking chocolate" we used to find in Europe when living in Germany but it was very good.

I am moving to this neighborhood to have daily access to this coffee/cacao shop, I've tried many great quality cacao products, chocolates and this guy's are the best so far, the jaguar cacao is beyond everything I ever tried
