Gadabout is one of the best curated stores in Toronto, an old curiosity shop filled with items from the late 1800s through the late 1970s. It is a treasure hunting spot with lots of antique finds, curios, nostalgia, and ephemera. The store contains oodles of paper, incredible vintage posters, and tons of fabulous vintage clothing and accessories for men and women, with a particularly fun and rich collection of beautifully detailed pieces. There are amazing textiles, vintage housewares, and all kinds of knickknacks and trinkets. It is a well-known haunt for wardrobe, prop and set decorators for film and theatre production. Gadabout does not carry furniture and is not a consignment shop. The space is filled with a myriad of labeled and organized drawers, containing items ranging from spats and opera glasses to slide rulers and office supplies. This is where more affordable items can be found. It is very easy to spend a lot of time rummaging around, feeling like you've stepped into another time period. The staff is knowledgeable, happy to help assist with any niche, big, small, or strange item, and does not hound customers unnecessarily. The selection ranges from affordable trinkets to more unique big ticket items, with something for everybody.
The staff are very friendly, and there’s a wide variety of shoes and clothing on the first floor. This store definitely takes you back in time! The items are a bit pricey, but vintage pieces are always worth it.

Lots of treasures! All kinds of knickknacks, there’s something for everybody in this shop. Be sure to spend time in the drawers because that’s where the more affordable (under $15) items are. Staff is knowledgeable and doesn’t hound you like at some other vintage stores.
