What an amazing class! Alwynn was a great instructor. She explained how the machine worked and was very good with step by step instructions, and I was able to follow along nicely. She also gave suggestions for easier moves if it was too difficult, and she gave verbal instructions if you needed to fix your form, which was very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. My back pain actually went away, and I felt good after the class ended. I booked my next class for tomorrow already.

I absolutely love Muse Movement and always look forward to going. The classes offer a perfect blend of challenge and relaxation, thanks to the skilled and helpful instructors. The abundance of class options ensures there's always something to fit into my schedule. The well-maintained reformer machines and the bright, calming space enhance the overall experience. I have improved my flexibility and range of motion, and I leave feeling rejuvenated and pumped after each session. Highly recommended!

I’ve been to this studio on and off since summer 2023
Here’s my honest review
My first impression on this studio was horrible, here’s why:
I had 2 terrible experiences with this teacher named Alwynn:
1:my very first class with this studio was right after Alwynn’s class, she was the only teacher in the room ,then I was enthusiastically telling her this was my first time in the studio, but all I got from her was a cold & mean face that told me “I’m not your teacher” then she left the room with zero interest of giving me a brief intro to the studio.
2: i gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided to give her class a try
During mid class Alywnn told us to switch to another position without explaining the detailed movements (with only cuing the name of the position), I was struggling to find the right form yet she walked up to me and said something very disrespectful and rude: “you don’t even know what I’m talking about do you “, mind you I was only 1 month into reformer Pilates
I have NEVER ever received such horrible treatment in any studios. My first classes with other studios were only warm welcomes and throughout introductions& instructions
It shocked me that another Asian lady also left a review stating received the same poor treatment, yet Alwynn’s reply was very surface level and unrepentant
It does not matter how experienced you are as a teacher, the behaviour itself is a huge red flag
Interesting enough the studio promotes heavily on community and their strict ethics of “no tolerance” practice and policy for oppressive, discriminatory or harmful behaviours.. but are their teachers exempted from said “no tolerance “ policy? Is this policy really being executed as they have advertised ?
It was so frustrating that I had to avoid coming to this studio for a long while because there were quite a lot of classes taught by this disturbing teacher, which takes away all the fun and joy of going into a studio at the time&dates I desired
After my initial complaint, the management reached out but called me on early Easter weekend without proper notice, the conversation felt more like wanting to keep my business instead of really looking to solve the issue
Later on I did tried out other teachers’ classes and my favourites were Dee, Kaylyn, Cynthia & Lindsay. I can sense their passion in teaching & their interests in connecting with students.
I also notice they do not provide any hands on adjustments but only broad verbal adjustment instructions , it really rely on you to adjust yourself and you won’t know if you are really doing it right given most positions are not counter intuitive, which could add more harm to your body (given you’re working with your spines & lower back a lot)
if you’ve done reformer Pilates before you know it’s challenging to follow the cues with both your mind & body, there’s no way you can look at yourself in the mirrors at all times and make precise adjustments
Meanwhile other studios I’ve been to all provide hands on adjustments plus verbal instruction to help you remain the correct forms
Initially I came to this studio when there was not that many options for reformer Pilates within the downtown core.
Over the last year there are more studios opened up with well trained, professional& respectful teachers.
Now I have to think twice on whether if I want to continue coming to this studio..

Amazing pilates studio. If there is one studio you need to check out in Toronto, it's this one. Classes are a great size and instructors are all friendly and helpful, wish this was closer to my house so I could go more often and wish they had a monthly unlimited membership

The vibe was nice, the building had historic importance so there were many other classes ongoing, like sketch dance etc.
Moving back to Muse, it was my first class with reformers/pilates equipment. I liked it, pace was sustainable & would be back for my next one, currently attending via the new student offer.

I highly recommend any of Dee’s classes! Fun, creative, strength-building and always with the best music. They create a judgement-free environment where I feel at ease to be myself and enjoy moving!
