This is a gem of a studio in the heart of Toronto that teaches a very pragmatic, unique and dynamic way of moving that I have never experienced in any other studio. They are very skilled and humble instructors that create engaging and fun classes where I leave learning something new about my body. Highly recommend.

I've been to every imaginable practitioner. Chiro, Osteopath, Trainer etc. Not until I got to Andre did someone truly see my issues and challenges holistically AND have the tools to really help me. It's a long journey, but I'm happy I found Spirit Loft.

Spirit Loft isn’t only an east-end gem, it’s a beautiful movement space that’s one-of-a-kind in Toronto and the GTA. The classes are fun and unique every single time. Not only will your body experience a great workout but along the way, you’ll learn about the human body and why it’s important to be doing the ‘work’/exercises to avoid injuries or recover more easily if you have a problem you’re working through. Everything can be done or progressed to your skill level or physical capability. It’s a supportive community of like-minded individuals of all ages who are genuinely interested in getting stronger, being mobile and most importantly, being curious about the infinite ways you can move and be engaged in physical activity. Catalina, Andre and the Spirit Loft team have created a truly special space that everyone needs to experience.

This is an amazing movement studio with such a lovely team. It feels like a family. I look forward to coming back this summer for outdoor programming. The teachers give such high-quality instruction and the classes are so diverse and challenge me to dig deep. I love the emphasis on the exploration of movement quality in our lives and how fun the classes are.

I can't say enough about Spirit Loft. I've known Andre and Catalina for almost 10 years now. They're incredible people, and it shines through in everything they do. I can't wait to be able to visit their beautiful practice space again!

As a personal trainer, I had gotten totally fed up with chronic injuries and pain when I worked out. I stopped working out for several months out of frustration until I surrendered to the idea that weight training just may not be right for my body (it took many years to admit that).
After training with Andre using his DNS expertise, I now know how I should be moving my body, daily, without pain. I feel comfortable enow that I'm in their group class environment that I've learned enough about how to listen to my body, and activate my core (canister breath!) so that I can enjoy being active again.
I can't thank Andre, and Spirit Loft enough for being the point of education/learning me and my body so needed.

As a yoga teacher myself, I am very picky about my classes at teacher. Spirit loft is great! I love Cindy's iyengar classes (level 1 and 2). The style is my favourite. Workshop-like. Not flow. Very awareness building. Catalina's classes are amazing too. Great for all levels because they foster so much awareness in the practice. Highly recommended for people who want a very intense and mindful practice.

I'm very happy with all the classes I have attended at Spirit Loft (around 25 separate classes). The instructors are great - I need modifications for some of the movements because of injury, and they are very knowledgable and happy to give other options and to scale activities. I really like that they focus on quality of movement, and that there is a lengthly instructor led warmup for every class. I especially love the movement lab classes and the special events that they run (e.g., gymnastics rings workshops). I really recommend Spirit Loft, I have been very happy and learned a lot of different locomotion patterns and warmup movements here that were new to me.

I am writing this as I am recovering from my first time at Andre's kettlebell zen class so bear with me. I will sub-divide this review based on the classes I've taken and then my overall experience with the studio. Andre's Kettlebell Zen--lots of kettlebell. No zen. Fine there is zen, the last 10 minutes are usually spent figuring out how to use your legs again without falling over because your body has been turned into jell-o. This class is intense, but do-able. Andre is an exceptional source of knowledge and a wonderful teacher. He will push you to try harder, but first and foremost he will do his best to make sure you are practicing proper form to ensure you don't get injured. That said, he is a perfect blend of tough coach you wish you had in high school and warm inviting yoga instructor--he's tough, encouraging, but always friendly. His wonderful fiancee was in the class I took, and while she is not teaching and has probably done this class a million and five times she will ask him questions you maybe didn't even realize you had. The atmosphere to the class is fun, playful, with friendly competition which creates a nice juxtaposition to the difficulty (75 minutes never went by so quickly). Don't be fooled by the Zen in the name of the class, it is still incredibly challenging but worthwhile for everyone. Lisa's Vinyasa flow--tough. You think yoga is slow and boring? I laugh at your judgement. I laugh. Come to this class so I can continue to laugh at you. It is vigorous, uplifting, physically challenging, while mentally profound. Whether you come to it for the physical aspect or the spiritual/mental aspect, you will definitely get something. Lisa is a phenomenal teacher and totally in her element; she doesn't use super flowery language but she'll throw in little stories/offerings here and there for the people who need the mental work and need the zen yoga class feel. She is an expert at alignment and is super meticulous about ensuring students don't develop poor habits that can lead to injury. She is hands on, but accommodating and respectful of people's limits. The owner (Catalina) subbed her class one time, and while I have never taken any of her classes due to my schedule (most of her classes are during the day) she is an amazing powerhouse who will challenge you, while at the same time cultivating an amazing sense of space. Yoga Nidra--it doesn't make logical sense, but it works. Sheila is a wealth of knowledge and a phenomenal instructor and a great guide into an amazing tranquil meditation state. It doesn't make sense, and every time is a little bit different, but it awakens a sense a being, profoundness, and purpose. It is really just amazing. Overall--studio gets a 10/10 in my books. Phenomenal instructors. Phenomenal students. Classes usually have between 5-15 people so the student/teacher ratio is a serious win. This is not Goodlife Fitness Yoga or Kettlebell. This is a place of warmth, community, and discourse. It is truly an amazing place and unlike any other yoga studio in the city. Keep up the stand-up work.

This studio is relatively new, having opened about 5-6 months ago. I went here as part of my passport to prana activities. I went for Kristy's saturday morning energy flow class. what I loved about them - amazing amazing space - a small loft with TONS of natural light - great teacher - Kristy was trained by JP of ahimsa. She gave options for variations and modifications on poses, was reallygood about checking our alignment to ensure we were doing the poses right, had a great energy, and ran an enjoyable class with the perfect balance of challenge - the owners were super friendly and approachable, taking the class themselves - super personal classes - not a huge space so the classes are smaller and intimate - interesting course offerings - although they don't offer many classes (1/day, 2/day on the weekend), they offer a wide variety of types of yoga classes. They also have a yoga+naturopath series with a workshop once a month of 60min yoga and a talk by a naturopath on topics such as beating the winter blues or allergies - all for just 25$!!!
