The female staff at this bank need at minimum some extensive training in customer service, but honestly they would be better off just clearing house and starting over with staff that don’t have severe personality disorders. While waiting I have been witness to several interactions with other clients where they were just short of being outright racist in their visible and audible disdain. There’s never a hello or a smile but lots of huffing and puffing and eye rolling. I feel so bad for the poor younger male tellers, and the one lone sweet short haired woman, that are at the mercy of these miserable women all day. I have myself been on the other end of their condescension and foul attitude the last few times I’ve been in and I can promise you I will never return to this branch or recommend banking with Scotiabank.

I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about. Never had a problem. Always fast in and out. Moved from St Catharines and used to 15 + people in lines. Compared to average 3 people! You can't please anyone these days!!!

Very good they just got security and as soon as my bank card got stolen they canceled it and it didn’t cost me anything and you don’t have to wait a a long time for they just give you a new one there.

Listen to the reviews. There's a reason they're so bad. The actual gentleman I was speaking to was great and trying to help me, it was the woman beside him and then the "lovely" manager who refused to acrially.lsiten to what I was saying and the manager immediately just came in with condescending attitude.. which made me ask for my card back right away while saying I don't need this attitude from bank staff and she made a face at me and turned away back to her desk and ignored me.

I am not one to leave negative reviews. I like to think I can just let things go and move on. However, my experience just now was so unbelievably terrible I need to do this…and then move on. I arrived to the Niagara Street location in Welland to close my elderly mothers account as per her wish(I am Power of Attorney on the account). I advised the teller that I was joint (my mistake) and she literally rolled her eyes and sighed aloud. I handed her the paper and visa/debit card my mother provide me with and I asked her if we could just make a draft for the account balance payable to my mother( I worked in the Financial Services industry for 10 years so I believed this to be possible). She proceeded to type and look at her screen never once advising me of the process as several mini passed. At one point she stood up put her back to me and held her hand up to shelter her mouth like kids would do when telling a secret in grade school, while she very obviously related something about my request to her manager. I looked around honestly thinking I was being punked because it was so blatantly rude. I finally asked her if everything was okay and she said she can’t do it and that I’m power of attorney and that’s different than joint. I asked if my mother had to come with me to which she replied yes. Then her manager looked at the screen and advised her that she could indeed close the account and and provide me with a draft in my mother’s name. Hmmmm - no simple apology- nope, back to typing and starring at the screen. Not once did she ask if she could save the account, not once did she smile or even soften her expression. She was a sad, robot the entire time. My review here does not give the experience justice. Never have I ever in my life been part of such a poor customer experience. I truly understand the girl could have been having an off day- hey, maybe something terrible is going on for her but there is a time then when you just need to stay home. Scotiabank, at Niagara and Thorold, training is required. If you’ve got cameras, watch the tape back, I’m sure you’ll agree.

The worst customer service. Lady today was huffing and puffing that she didn't have time to handle a long time clients needs because "she had so much work to do" in an empty bank. Last time I check poor time management is not the customer's fault.

Had good appointments with a representative person to set up accounts. But the reception was slightly difficult to talk with.

Their staff is super rude, they don’t have basic etiquette on how to deal with a customer, even if I had every needed document for the purpose I visited, the associate was only interested in just rudely staring, and doesn’t even hearing my point of view, I’m gonna transfer my account and take the business to another branch. Extremely disappointed!!!

We recently had a death in our family. We flew out of province immediately to make funeral arrangements, clean out the house entirely as the death had happened 2 weeks prior to finding the body. Lawyer advised us that it should be no problem being refunded our expenses (ie items from hardware store to secure home and outbuildings, curtains to cover main floor of the home, flights, accommodations etc) from the estate. Scotiabank advised us that they would not refund for these expenses because we could have just gone in a TRIP. They would only refund if we had invoices not just receipts. Their actions were disturbingly disrespectful and unsympathetic for what we had just gone through. If they would have gone through what we had just the week before, they would (guaranteed) not felt that it was a trip!EXTREMELY dissatisfied with Scotiabank and how a delicate situation was handled! Shame on you Scotiabank!

I needed some help with my parents banking and tried several times to contact someone at the branch. It's impossible to get someone at the branch to talk to. I normally don't like leaving bad reviews because I to work in customer service, but this service really isn't good (considering the fees we pay at banks). Hope this will change in the future!
