Told me my things would be untouched and safe when I returned and bed would be held when I left. Came back when they told me to and Jeff claimed all beds were full, about half of my things were in a dirty bag by the door. It looked like they took anything valuable I posessed(shoes and electronics) and then gave me what was left. I’ve called many times this week for a follow up or to speak with the director. Office staff tells me he is in the office and then when they transfer me to their line, nobody answers. I have left multiple voicemails this week, without receiving a call back. Expect your things to be stolen if you are not with them at all times. Josh and Terra in the kitchen are great though.

I have alot to say about this place. But, here is not the place to talk about it. It's definitely cleaner than other shelters. The rules are bent according to who's working. One person can get away with one thing well the other person doesn't. The food... I grab a box to go BUT almost all the time I can't eat it. It's either overcooked, not cooked enough or just flat out nasty! They definitely NEED a better cook. Emma is a sweetheart. She's willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need. Her assistant, I said good morning to her one day and she ignored me. It's ok :) I was taught to smile and turn the other cheek.

Between the breakfast of 2 pancakes and human hair with no syrup and the dinner of a cold cole slaw sandwich on stale bread I see why many opt to shoplifting instead...I bet their pets don't even eat this horribly...

I've called multiple times to ask a question, and they hang up on me every time...When I actually did go in to get a meal I was given two pancakes with no syrup on one occasion and on another occasion I was given a cold cole slaw sandwich for dinner, for lunch I was given half a can of spaghetti O's...And they consider this a community service? They're a joke to society!Especially given how well stocked their pantry is!!!!Where does all that food go if they have people eating cold coleslaw on crunchy stale bread??? They should be audited!!

The dedicated staff of Albany Helping Hands are some of the most caring people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The work they do is incredibly selfless and admirable. I urge anyone with a heart for this local community to consider supporting their efforts.

We tried to talk to someone about getting wood. On 3 separate occasions our name and number was taken with the promise they call back that day. I have yet to talk to the person who deals with firewood.

Chris made sure I had a solid load of firewood. He was pro social, positive, and professional. He was proud of his sobriety, and took pride in his work. Much appreciated and happy to support Helping Hands.

First off let me tell you, I am huge bargain hunter. I will never pay full price for anything. I love rehoming unwanted things. This store has the best prices by far. I walked into "saint vinneys" and for destroyed furniture they were charging retail prices. 150$ for an end table. Disgusting.I just got an L shaped desk that I couldn't find for under 300$ for 5$. Yeah. 5$Please donate here instead of goodwill, not only do profits go to the other part of their company which is HOUSING HOMELESS but goodwill does absolutely nothing with the money except make a profit. They have select donation hours due to the virus feel free to call I believe it was 10 to 3. They dont have a huge selection yet but I'm sure if we people from albany make them a priority to donate to, and support we will find amazing things there.
