“If you’re in the market for a new carpet the only place to go is AK Carpets in Albany, Oregon. From the moment I entered the store Rex was friendly and helpful. He showed me the range of carpet’s quality and price and was honest about the best value. When I told him I needed the job done Asap he got on it! Within the hour he’d sent an employee to my house to measure 3 bedrooms with closets, a long hallway and stairs! I had an estimate an hour later. Rex updated me with a schedule and the installers came the NEXT day, which was right before a big holiday! The guys were not only punctual, Rex said they’d be a little early. The 2 guys worked steadily from 9 to 6 and got the job done. The disgusting dog urine smell had been covered up, but my black light flashlight exposed a sickening quantity of pee! After AK there was no remnants of the odor! The job was well done and under my budget! Rex called me after the holiday to check in and I told him the job finish beyond my expectations! I would 100% use AK Carpets. They showed up when I needed them. They brought quality products and expertise to job, and worked professionally and quickly. For me there’s no other choice for carpet!”

“I purchased flooring from Whitaker's during a major house remodel in 2018 and was so impressed with their customer service and the quality of flooring that I returned for my next project in 2022. Phil was super helpful from day one. I visited A LOT of home improvement stores during my remodel. Phil stands out as one of the top employees among the stores I shopped. He was not at all pushy with sales. I asked for an overview of flooring types and he gave me a broad overview, then provided detail. He understood the requirements of installing flooring over different sub-floors (I am on slab, had to pour liquid level over areas with old flooring, etc.). He was honest about the ease of installing different types of flooring (I installed it myself) and never pushed me to purchase their installation, although they do installation. He helped me calculate the number of boxes of flooring I'd need, and with both projects it was spot on - I had several planks left over for each, which allowed me to be selective about the pattern I layed down, and both times ended up finishing the project on the last box. This impressed me as there is wiggle room around how much you need when taking into consideration the planks you have to cut to odd sizes to fit around corners, doorways, etc.The store has a huge variety of different types of flooring. I went with vinyl plank for my first project and have been very impressed with the look, feel, and durability, so I again used vinyl plank for my second project. The store has floor installation kits available for purchase and rent. They allow you to take sample flooring home to look at it in your lighting and with your other furniture (huge bonus as this made a big impact to my final decision). The cost for this high quality flooring was comparable to cheaper quality I found at other big box stores, so I'm really glad I ended up here. I would have paid the same elsewhere for a lower quality product. I like asking a lot of questions before I make a big purchase and Phil was never rushed and had very educational answers. I also consulted briefly with Steve on window coverings - he was also nice and helpful. There was one other person who worked in flooring who I briefly consulted with one day - also friendly and helpful. This group seems to have a lot of expertise and all around great customer service. Five stars for customer service and flooring on two major home renos. I will continue going back here for flooring and window treatments.”
