This place requires that pets get numerous vaccines before they will see your pet. Never experienced that at any vet prior in any state. Just seems like a way to squeeze more money out of customers, which I respect, but can't afford to go here...

They did so amazing with my dog and give him all the love and wanted to make it a great visit for him and they did just that! I adopted my dog a few months ago and he needed to be updated on his shots and they took really great care of us and sent us home with a whole goodie bag full of fun stuff and some flea and tick medicine for free!

During snow on February 23, 2023 in Portland I needed to do a routine procedure for my dog. And the technician wouldn't do it saying that they were understaffed. And that no doctor was there. So what's the point of having a hospital if nobody is there to do a routine procedure for a dog.

If I could give this location 10 stars I would! I had a guinea piggie with some severe bloating and GI issues. After a very long and frustrating trip to Dove Lewis, the front desk at VCA got us in the following morning right away! Dr. Fujiura is OUTSTANDING. His knowledge and treatment of my piggie was more than I could've hoped for. He will now be our primary vet! The nurse technicians were so incredibly kind and the front desk goes out of their way to help. Would absolutely recommend coming here! Thank you from my now very happy and healthy piggie!

Dissatisfied. I purchased a Care Club plan 4 years ago when getting an appointment in a timely manner was actually possible. My dog has a lump and they don't have any appointments available for 2 months. Told to call at exactly 6:30 am for emergency appointments since they fill up in "5 to 10 minutes." This is ridiculous. What's the point of paying a monthly fee that can only be used at this specific VCA vet's office if I can't actually get my dog in for such a serious issue? I don't understand why you would take on more clients than you can actually provide care for.

Beware: VCA Rock Creek Animal Hospital is seriously overwhelmed. My cat has been licking his hind leg and limping, progressively less active and now unable to jump onto things. I was finally able to get him to let me have a look at his leg and discovered a large lump that is painful. I pay $75 a month for VCA's CareClub and I learned when I called this morning that it's useless because they are so overwhelmed. I was told there are no urgent care openings, to call back every morning at 6:30 weekdays/7:30 weekends, and the first appointment available isn't until October. What a ripoff. CareClub is supposed to give me access when I need it -- and my cat needs care NOW. Whatever you do, do not get CareClub and do not establish care at VCA. They have taken on too many animals, and can't provide timely care that meets the needs of their clients. Updated to add: They called late afternoon and got him in on cancellation. My comment acknowledges the industry issue, but when you take $75 a month for a plan that includes urgent care access, and can't deliver on it, it's questionable as to whether or not the fee is fair. The care here is GREAT when you can get in.

I cannot say enough good about Dr. Fujiura. We have a pet tortoise, and it can be very difficult to find vets who know how to care for them. Thank goodness we found this one! He took great care of her and was incredibly communicative and responsive. We are worriers who always have a lot of questions, and he answered all of them patiently and thoughtfully. He even helped us out on multiple occasions via text message with general questions and check-ins when she was being treated for an illness. This clinic was also able to get our tortoise in quickly for emergency care a couple of times when we needed it, which was huge. They were always incredibly helpful. During pandemic times, especially, I can't describe how valuable this was. We have just recently had to move away, and we are so sad to lose Dr. Fujiura and VCA Rock Creek as our vet.

I am very disappointed with my experience with VCA Rock Creek Animal Hospital. Back story - I wanted to switch vets because the one I go to is in Oregon City so I don't have to drive so far. I scheduled my cat Feefee in to have him set up as a patient here because it was really close to my house. I had an appointment with Marie Hagel on 11/15 where I went in for a routine check up in order to get flea medicine. During the routine check up, she said that he had enlarged lymph nodes and that was a serious sign of illness. She listed off a bunch of different things it could be, but the main ones that she spoke of were Feline Leukemia or Lymphoma. She listed off a bunch of tests that I could do and the ones she mainly wanted me to do was a blood test to rule out feline leukemia and to test the "mass" she felt to see if it a lymph node and not a tumor. The blood test results came back negative and the lymph node was infact... a lymph node. She also told me that all of the cells looked OK but was not comfortable telling me that he was fine and that the outcome didn't look great and she just kept repeating that things didn't look good for him. She also said that he came back with elevated calcium from the blood test which further confirmed her suspicion of lymphoma and that she was concerned. All of this cost me a total of $552.25... After all that she wanted to do a bunch of extra tests to confirm which came out to an additional like $600... I went home and cried!! This lady made it seem like my cat was dying! When I initially went in for the appointment, I didn't really know anything about these illnesses... but I was just worried about my cat - he's literally my child.... The feline leukemia virus is shed in saliva, nasal secretions, urine, feces, and milk of infected cats. Cat-to-cat transfer of the virus may occur from a bite wound, during mutual grooming, and (rarely) through the shared use of litter boxes and feeding dishes. FEEFEE IS AN INDOOR CAT, he's afraid of the outside so it does not make any sense for him to have this...Our other kitties do not have it either... so of course the test came back negative. I decided to take him to my normal vet for a 2nd opinion and he is perfectly healthy. My normal vet looked at all the test results from Rock Creek Animal Hospital and his lymph nodes were not enlarged... one on his back leg was a little swollen but this could have to do with his weight and fleas but wasn't of any concern. The calcium levels that came back a little high because per the other vet cats can be born with higher calcium levels and that it is nothing to be concerned about. The cat is eating, acting normal, uses the litter box, and all he really needs to do is lose a little weight and get his teeth cleaned... Rock Creek Animal Hospital charges you for unnecessary procedures. I feel totally scammed and taken advantage of. I won't be returning here nor would I recommend this place to anyone I know. If anyone needs honest vet care for their pets, Barclay Hills Animal clinic in Oregon City has been wonderful.

If I could give them no stars, I would. Royal canin has been on back order for their vet diet food and so no place has it. Chewy is on back order, pet smarts are getting them, I was just calling local vets asking and so I called VCA rock creek. They told me "unfortunately even if we did have it, we can only sell to patients only." Oh cool, so you'll just watch my dog starve? I see how much they care!

Taking care of a puppy for my daughter while she is working overseas. We visited the VCA facility and did a "puppy check up". Given we did not have the original document on all of the vaccinations, we have to do everything all over (just to be on the safe side). Just like most of the vets, they try to upsell you on all of the possible shots they can think of. VCA told us we had to come back for booster shots in few weeks and the bill listed the booster shots. My assumption was the cost of the booster shots is included in the initial cost (because it was listed on the billing).... To my surprise, after the follow-up visit and $70 later, I found out there were "multiple" booster shots required and they never disclosed this (nor the cost) to me during our initial visit! In addition, we just received a letter from Washington County of a Dog License fee?? I called VCA and confirmed they disclosed this information to Washington County, and they apologize for not disclosing this information to the patients (Owner). I thought these should be considered as personal information and protected under the privacy act (or even just common courtesy)!! I am not sure who else they are selling my information to and don't feel I can trust them, not to mention the well-being of the pets... BE aware if you have a new pet and looking for a trustworthy Vet... guess which one I will not be recommending......sigh

This place has the worst customer service and unprofessional staff! I decided to contact VCA for dog boarding I was put on hold multiple times, but I decided to still give them a chance. After speaking with their employee I emailed my dogs health record and they didn't even send me a email confirmation. The day of my flight I came to drop her off only to find out that the employee that made the reservation didn't actually make it,and therefore they couldn't accept my dog on a short notice. I was appalled and almost missed my flight! Avoid this place and take your dog elsewhere or you will miss your flight! I ended up taking my dog to Petsmart, because it was either that or missing my flight! For what this place was going to charge me for a tiny crate I paid less for a dog suite with a tv at petsmart and my dog had fun!

These folks were wonderful. We couldn't get our dog into be seen by Urgent Care and they took him, gave him fluid intravenously, and got him into Urgent Care. And they refused payment. They were really there for us and our dog when he was in real distress. Thank you so much!!

Appointments are easy to get because of their long hours. They diagnosed my pups problem very quickly and started treatment. I am very happy with their service.

Dr. Morris is the best! Our little girl pup has had a rough year and we've felt supported at every turn by the amazing care she's received each time. Thank you VCA Rock Creek!
