Very rude when we walked in, completely ignored us when we asked for change. Not helpful at all.

I called Bear Creek Cycle to ask if they could upgrade the mechanical disc brakes on my daughter’s e-bike to hydraulic ones. The person who answered the phone told me I’d need to bring it in so they could see if they’d even be willing to work on it. Fair enough. But when I asked what might prevent them from working on it, his tone immediately turned rude and dismissive. “I don’t know. I don’t know if I can get the parts. You just have to bring it in.”
Trying to be transparent, I acknowledged that the bike didn’t come with the best parts, but that we were trying to upgrade for safety. His response? “Then it sounds like you should have bought a better bike to start with.” I was stunned.
At that point, I ended the call. The entire conversation was condescending, rude, and completely unhelpful. It was clear he had no interest in speaking to someone who wasn’t already an expert or ready to drop thousands of dollars. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. I wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone.

I am really surprised at the low level ratings here because I have been going to this bike shop for years and John and his staff are always wonderful! John has worked on our mtn bikes over the years and is always fair and honest. I would not take my bikes anywhere else.

My first time in the store as I stopped on the way to go mountain biking. I was ready to drop some cash for protection on the trail but I cannot regret any more that I stopped here. First off, the customer service experience was extremely underwhelming and borderline awkward. Thankfully the guy was spending most of the time fixing bikes but when I had questions on the protection, he did not either have answers or they got me nowhere. The lack of knowledge and interest helping me was obvious. I'm currently getting my MBA done and this business experience was like going back to the time of dinosaurs in every level of business experience. I literally felt like I went back a couple decades. Do these businesses not understand the value of customer service in this day and age when that is just about the most important of your assets for a business like this? If the customer is more polite than the employee, you know you are running your business wrong. On the way out I said have a great day and he responded yeah. This place also doesn't have internet which is why I couldn't get on amazon and see if I could get my products cheaper there. I figured no way they can sell products that much higher than online and since I was on my way to the trail, I thought it wouldn't be bad to favor a local provider. When I got home, I noticed these guys charged me DOUBLE for the knee pads! Paid 100, Amazon has them for 50. I mean come on guys, I get that supporting local is good but this entire experience was nothing but a memory that I would like to erase. They at least had a decent product selection for a small shop, but seriously, two thumbs down.

I’ve been going to this shop for a few years now, I’ve always been satisfied with the experience. The owner has done a lot for biking in the community, particularly he has built many of the trails we ride. There are a lot of shops to choose from in the valley, each of them have many positive attributes and one should go to the shop they vibe with. I like Bear Creek, I get thorough explanations and quality work.

From square one of getting my dream wheel-set, all the way to getting them finished last minute to make the shuttle. John was there for me!

If I am a customer and I have asked to use your restroom to continue shopping and you tell me you don't have a public restroom! Ok you don't need my money

I purchased my first road bike from here years ago when I was a teenager and they were really helpful getting it sized right and making sure I knew how to properly care for my new bike. Now, I’ll be moving across the country and will be flying with my bike. I called up this shop to ask for recommendations of how to safely fly with my bike. The staff was really helpful and provided me with packing instructions and even offered a box to pack my bike into free of charge.Highly recommend this shop!

I visited to inquire about fixing up an older bicycle. I was told that considering the bike’s condition, it would be a better investment to buy a new one. I believe this was an honest assessment, but I like the bike and wanted to give it a shot. I decided to perform the work myself and came back the following week to purchase new tires. The owner’s demeanor was dismissive and it felt as if the clarifying questions I asked annoyed him. I got the impression he felt I was being high maintenance and not spending the kind of money that was worth his time. I decided on the Maxxis brand tire in a 29×2.25 inch as that was the tire on comparable bikes in the store, and the one I thought would fit my frame. They only had the 2.4 inch in stock and a narrower tire in a different cheaper brand. He said he could get the 2.25 inch in a few days.I decided to go a different direction when I realized I would need to replace the wheels as well. I politely asked if a refund was possible and offered to pay for shipping to the supplier. He refused and reacted very poorly saying, “These tires are yours” and “I went out of my way to order these for you and answer all of your questions.” If it was a specific part for my bike I would understand, but being that they were universal-fit tires fitted on many of the bikes for sale in the store I didn’t think it would be such a “ridiculous” request. After reading reviews online, I expected more of a neighborly feeling place where I could come in and ask a couple of basic questions. I’m sure this is a fine bike shop if you’re looking to buy a new bike. If you are looking to fix up a bike on a budget and receive good customer service.. go elsewhere.

Called to see about snowboard repair services (it is stated on their website that they do ski/snowboard repair) and they didn’t seem to have any idea they offered the service.

I came in to get a tune up and appeared to have disrupted the employee playing on his phone. I was met with an eye roll, and him telling me that the bicycle to be tuned "wouldn't be worth his time". Strong pass to anyone looking to get their bicycle serviced.

Refused to provide a basic service of my bike because it was "too cheap of a bike." Don't bother going here. Totally discriminatory because I can't afford to purchase something "worth while" in the $800 range and am not a biking elitist. Horrible service and will never spend a penny here for any reason.
