About Columbia River Maritime Museum

The Columbia River Maritime Museum's mission is to preserve and share the rich maritime history and culture of the Columbia River. It is home to the largest collection of maritime artifacts in the Pacific Northwest, and houses a 10,000-volume research library. The Museum includes both permanent and rotating exhibits, a lightship, 3D movie theater, gift shop and the Barbey Maritime Center. In all, the Museum is responsible for more than 40,000 objects and 20,000 photographs. Classes, workshops, demonstrations, lectures and other educational programs are offered on a regular basis. Visitors praise the museum for being interactive, informative, and engaging for the whole family. The lightship and Coast Guard displays are particularly popular, and the museum's gift shop is well-stocked. Guests appreciate the museum's efforts to expand and improve, and look forward to the new building coming in 2026. Overall, the Columbia River Maritime Museum is a must-visit destination for those interested in the area's rich maritime history and culture.
