This entire hotel smells of cat urine. I noticed the awful stench at the front desk and thought it might just be that area but the room smelled equally as potent with cat urine. When I informed hotel staff they became very rude and I decided to leave and even though I had not used the room at all they refused to cancel the reservation and charged me for nothing. I would not recommend staying here unless you like smell of cat urine.

Super clean. Cute place. Great location that is walking distance to everything Astoria has to offer. We stayed at the Astor Building Gold Finger suite. It can get a little noisy with the road noise but they provide ear plugs. Also the Astor Building isn't just a hotel - full time residents also live there, just something to know as you'll hear them going about their day (or evenings). The staff at check in was super nice and let us check in a little early.

Knew there was no air conditioning but was told big windows that open.
True. However room was in front of hotel with bright street lights all night. The shades banged against the window the entire night. Along with the street noise, it was a miserable experience. Stay away.
Better hotels to be found.

***Not Pet-Friendly!!*** Whoa, what a nightmare. In all of my years of travel in every corner of the world I have never experienced worse hospitality. The front desk man was kind but the manager, wow. We booked this “pet-friendly” place and when we arrived not only did they tell us it was our fault for not seeing the very fine print hidden in the room description about that very specific room not being pet friendly—but they also refused to refund us the $300 for the room. We drove for hours to find ourselves without a place to stay. And then, on top of all of that they were rude, aggressive and unprofessional. No thanks!

Fantastic quality for value in the heart of Astoria. Yes, it's old fashioned/European style budget hotel, with shared bathrooms and showers, but these are kept meticulously clean. Bedrooms are spacious and, although pretty minimalist, they are very comfortable. Perfect for a short stay.

The rooms and shared bathrooms were very clean . I could have used a more comfortable chair in my room . I was writing while I was there and so the two stools were not as comfortable. Perfect location and the people were very nice and the price was very affordable. I had one of the smallest rooms and was plenty for me.

Great old building, nice rooms, cozy robes. Hostel-style bathrooms but they are close. I have stayed here a few times and always recommend it to friends.

My sister and I had the best time at this cute and quaint hotel. We were there for just the day and it was perfect! Great location, great service, Great atmosphere. The shared bathrooms were perfect as well. We didn't mind that at all. Everything was very clean and the staff was amazing!

We booked this room last minute and what a wonderful experience. The check in person was so nice and energetic, and the room was like a little apartment. Very cozy and comfortable. It was at the heart of Astoria so easy walking to everything. If we are ever in Astoria again will be staying at the Norblad.

Comfortable, very clean and great location. No TV, which we were not aware of when we booked. To check in you have to climb 2 flights of stairs. What do handicapped people do? Great view of the river. Would be nice if there had been a deck of cards, game or a puzzle to help pass the time.
