“I had extensive upgrades and repairs done to my truck at a shop in Springdale, WA.
I stopped by that shop to have a couple of things done on my way to Arizona. We did a test drive and I was told I was good to go.
After a few hours on the road, I started hearing a high, chirpy sound while going up hill. It would stop after a rest period and then start again when in high gear. After a while it didn’t stop.
Luckily I pulled into a service station in Baker City, asked a young man to look under the hood for me, and after a few revs, he told me I had exhaust leaks coming from the turbo hoses. He directed me to Grumpy’s.
They confirmed right away what the young man had seen and I was able to get an appointment the following Monday to have an inspection of the work that had been done on my truck.
There was a lot wrong, including the other shop having messed up my wheel spindles when they packed the front bearings. This could have resulted in a serious accident had the mechanics at Grumpy’s not caught it. JR, Dana, and the crew were professional, understanding, and more than fair.
The people here truly are good samaritans.
When I have more work to be done on my truck, Grumpy’s is where I’ll have it done.”

“We were driving from Northern Nevada to Canada. The engine light came on. We googled for a top-rated mechanic and Fred’s shop came in at #1. Fred did a diagnostic scan, reset the O2 sensor for us and we were on our way. Drove back through today and had to stop by and tell Fred thanks again for his help. Sure wish he was in our home town! I was visiting with extended family and so four kids under 5 yrs. old were with me. The check engine light came on my van just a few miles from our destination, Baker City, Oregon.
I took the group to drop off the van. Randy and his staff were willing to get my van looked at immediately. They fixed the problem by replacing the thermostat and while doing so noticed the poor state of our tires. When Randy showed the tire to me even I could tell they were in a sorry state.
It was a Friday afternoon and they didn't have our tires in stock. They valled until they found our tires at another shop. Although the other shop had the tires, the could not do the alignment on the weekend.
Concerned for my safety and that of the kiddos with us, Randy drove our van to the other bussiness, picked it up, fixed the alignment, and let me pick up the van from their shop.”

“In July of 2023, my car broke down 35 miles outside Baker City. Was towed into town by Blue Mountain Towing (excellent) and my car dropped off at Mike Bork Auto (also excellent) at the end of the day. I stayed overnight in a hotel and wandered Baker City the next day when Mike was able to take a look at it. “I ordered tires to replace the original tires on my new (to me) 1986 Honda Rebel, and then it took me nearly a 2 months to come up with the money due to some hardships that hit my bank account. No pressure. The staff were all patient. When I took my bike in, they stated they were down a mechanic and it would be 'a while' before my bike would be ready - tenth on the list. Little over a week later, I received a call stating it was done. I was expecting that it would take SEVERAL weeks. " I need another week to get paid, before I can pick it up." I told them. Their attitude with me was so patient, and amazing. I am a first time bike owner, new rider and I asked them and at least a hundred different questions. they answered every single one.I read the reviews from others. I'm mostly broke, with no time or money to spare. These guys were NOTHING like negative reviews stated. Nothing. I took a chance, and I am SO glad I did. With all the work done, besides the tires, the price was way more than reasonable. I am so grateful for humans being human beings. There was no high pressure sales pitch for anything. Their work, the guarantee of their work, and their friendly service and attitude has made a life time customer of me.”
