“Today we needed to start a new account due to moving to Baker. My husband and I had walked into another downtown bank and were completely ignored. We waited with no eye contact from anyone at the Old West Credit Union. When we walked into Umpqua Bank, we were greeted warmly with coffee or tea and told that someone would be with us shortly. Chastity Anderson helped us for over 2 hours deal with some difficult SS issues concerning changing from an old bank . As recently retired seniors we felt welcomed to Baker and supported in our new banking venture. Thank you Chastity!!! Most would have given up and told us to come back after we figured out the problem. We appreciate customer service like this and will do our future banking with Umpqua!”
“Great bank . They gave ne my cash advance, also said you can take out up to 1000 from their ATM without charge. Thank you so much . All other banks in town say no because i dont have a account. Only use this bank in Baker City !!!”
“I have two accounts, one is from an out of state credit union from Utah, and the other is with community bank in Baker City. I wasn’t sure about them because when I walked in they seemed too small town and being a person with dyscalculia, I’m always suspicious when somebody’s talking about money and it sounds too good. Well in this case too good to be true, really is true. They didn’t understand what dyscalculia was, and when I explained it to them they were very interested and since then they have made every single effort to help me understand my banking more clearly. To make it effortlessly for me, because it’s a thing that I have never understood before. Dyscalculia is like dyslexia with numbers. I found a bank that will take the time to sit down with me and explain things to me so that I understand, they look out for my account and if something doesn’t seem right they will call me. I can’t say enough good things about the staff at this bank, the way they handle my money, and the Way that they are helping me learn to handle my money as well. I will never leave my credit union in Utah, and now I have a local bank that I will most likely stay with until I have no more banking to do. I’m 51. I have at least another good 45 years to go. I look forward with a long-standing relationship with Community Bank in Baker city Oregon.”
“Once upon a perfectly ordinary Tuesday, in a town filled with traffic lights, coffee shops, and a whole lot of “meh,” I walked into Banner Bank, and everything changed. Not because I suddenly became a millionaire (working on that still!), though that would be nice, but because I found something rare these days—real people who actually care.
From the second I stepped inside, I wasn’t just another customer. I was seen. I was welcomed. I was treated like I mattered. Not with a forced grin or a tired script, but with genuine warmth. It felt less like a bank and more like a place where good humans happen to handle money.
And let me tell you about Megan. She is the heart of the place. If they gave medals for kindness, problem-solving, and having a calming presence during financial chaos, she’d be a gold medalist. She is sharp, compassionate, and makes you feel at ease no matter what you're there for. She remembers names. She listens. She gets it done with a smile that actually reaches her eyes.
The rest of the team? Just as amazing. Every teller, every advisor, every person behind the counter brings something real to the experience. You can feel it. This branch runs on more than numbers. It runs on community, trust, and the kind of service that used to be common and now feels like a miracle.
Whether you're opening a new account, solving a problem, or just asking a few questions that you could have Googled but didn't want to, this team makes you feel welcome. They make you feel safe. And they make you want to come back.
Banner Bank is more than a bank. It's a bright spot. A rare place where service is still personal, smiles are still sincere, and people like Megan remind you what it feels like to be treated with dignity and care even when the bank account runs empty.
Five stars. All day. Every time.”
