“I faced a real challenge after buying a nicely designed house in West Linn, then changed my mind about moving in and rented it out for ten years. The last tenant was the only renter who had been unkind to the place, and a court order was required to make her leave. I soon learned she had damaged every room in the house. Even before finding Bobbi, I guesstimated that I might have to spend $60K to restore the home’s appeal. Bobbi cheered me up and demonstrated a wry sense of humor when she summarized the situation like this: “Our girl [the property] has been mistreated and we have to make her feel good about herself again.” This caused me to increase my guesstimate from $60K to $80K just to cover repairs. During the first week all bids were approved, and work began on a hardwood replacement floor for the kitchen. Bobbi’s vendors proved to be amazingly skilled and surprisingly reasonable. During the final week of work, Bobbi checked to make sure that all the things I’d wanted done had been completed. On her own, however, she’d gone much further than an extra mile. Because of her professionalism, the whole job ended up costing me under $50K, which included two coats of quality paint inside and out.
Assisting Bobbi was her chief foreman Jose, whose own crew did the majority of the repair work. He also coordinated crews from other parts of the Portland area, all of whom made sure that our “West Linn girl was finally able to feel good about herself again.” Their combined effort enabled the house to enter the market in under four weeks. Two bids were received the first day. One Buyer increased her bid considerably and escrow closed a month later.
In future, I plan to sell other properties in Portland, and when I’m ready, Bobbi Inman will be the first real estate agent I will entrust with the homes.”
