Winterhawks Skating Center is a historic ice facility that has been in operation since 1965, serving as the official practice and development facility for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League. The arena offers a wide range of activities, including recreational leagues, clubs, and clinics for children and adults, as well as learn-to-skate lessons, figure skating, and competitions for beginners to advanced level competitors. The facility is known for its well-maintained ice, friendly neighborhood atmosphere, and great youth hockey and figure skating programs. However, some visitors have noted that the admission fees are on the higher side, with the $25 fee being considered exorbitant by some. Additionally, the seating can be a bit uncomfortable, and the food options are described as pricey. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Winterhawks Skating Center remains a popular destination for the local community, offering a fun and engaging ice skating experience for all ages. The facility's historic charm and the dedication of its staff have made it a beloved destination for the next generation of skaters.
Rink is fun, beer leagues are a hoot. Locker rooms and bathrooms are AWFUL. Just gross. They definitely need to upgrade.

Went to a midday public skate. A standard, good-sized ice rink. However, I was disappointed that for $25 (rental skates included but no discount for bringing your own skates) that they didn't have an ice cut midway through the 3-hour session. The ice was very cut up with 45 minutes remaining.

Great friendly neighborhood rink with well run adult leagues, youth hockey, figure skating, classes and public skating. It's also the practice facility for the Portland Winterhawks, so the ice is maintained well.
