Just missing a touch of genuine care for employees and seems like that translates into how they treat customers. I'm not saying its bad, I can just tell when someone is happy with what they do and what they earn, and how they are treated. Always starts at management, ask your employees what's is 1 thing they would do to improve the function or energy of the store and I'm sure you would be surprised with what they come up with.

This is consistently the worst Ace hardware I've ever been into. This is almost painful for me to write.... coming from Salem Oregon, Ace hardware, was my favorite hardware store in a lot of ways actually my favorite store in that whole city.( We named our Dog ACE!).
Over the years I've spent tens of thousands of dollars and literally know everyone by name in Salem and was excited to see that two Ace hardware stores in Bend when we moved here last August. It's always been my One stop Shop for everything. This Ace hardware has ruined my perception of the franchise and I just made my very last trip there today. It's by far the closest hardware store to my house yet every single time that I've went in there it feels somehow overstaffed with people that don't know what they're doing. This is a huge shock to me as the South Salem Ace hardware is something to be put on a pedestal when it comes to customer service. This Ace hardware unfortunately isn't just bad compared to other Ace hardware it's bad compared to everything else in Bend.
1. It's consistently overstaffed with what feels like incompetent and unmotivated staff.
2. The shelves are sparse at best, whether this is the lack of a good inventory person or just poor planning I have no idea.
3. It feels very unorganized and cluttered.
4. They don't offer services like most other Ace hardware is such as screen repair etc...
5. It literally feels like just an Ace hardware by name alone.

Found what I needed. Lady said my cupons no longer work.
I have always used my cupons, for years at other ACE in Bend.
Either the store changed policy, or she did.
If I were a manager here. After reading reviews. By damn I'd fire everyone and make this a good place for customers.
30+ years experience, and ACE has dropped the bucket.

I swear every associate at the South Bend location is so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Helped me pick out proper hardware for finishing a tile shower. Allowed me to finish the job with confidence.

The only store that had what we needed when we needed it like always I recommended might be a little bit more expensive than some of the big box stores but way worth it way way worth it!
