I brought my anxious cat here for her an annual and all the vet techs were so gentle and kind to both my cat and I. Dayle was awesome and put all of my worries at ease by educating me. They’re great at their job and I deeply appreciate them.

Very disappointed with Banfield. While they took good care of our dog, they spent every minute trying to sell us one of their wellness plans. To top it all off, our dog had an accident in the exam room and we were charged a fee for clean up! What an underhanded move!

Banfield bend has gone so far downhill. There is no customer service at the front desk. They will completely ignore you for 15 minutes before helping you, not even a “I’ll be right with you” to acknowledge you as a person. The wellness plans are a joke at this point, they continued to find ways to add items that were not included in the wellness plan to upsell and get more money. My last visit was terrible. Dropped my pet off at 7am for a dental cleaning, by 4pm had not been informed of any progress. I called 3 times and no one even picked up the phone. I waited another 10 minutes and called again before someone finally picked up and told me my dog would not be ready until 530pm. I showed up and watched why 2 people helped one couple with their dog checkout and was not acknowledged for 10 minutes. Once finally talked to, she went to let them know I was here to get my dog. I finally got my dog at 6pm. Overall just terrible communication and customer service. We will not be returning. No compassion for you or your pet.
Edit- no I will not be responding to your auto response to some email address. There is nothing you can do to rectify the situation except retrain your entire staff or hire better team members.

We had the unfortunate experience of thinking Banfield was a full-service clinic. I reached out early on a Monday morning and left a voicemail; my dog was sick and I needed diagnostic help. By the time Banfield got back to me the next afternoon (after I went into their clinic without an appointment to ask what happened), my sweet dog was dead. In my time of need, they simply didn’t answer or return my call. I ended up seeking end of life care elsewhere.
When I called to cancel my wellness plan because my dog had passed, it was explained to me that I’d enjoyed many benefits of the plan and would still need to continue paying until the membership was fulfilled.
What I would have enjoyed would have been a call back in my time of need.

I have had this wellness plan Since my pug was eight months old, she is now 13+ I have three other dogs on it. In the past year’s, Banfield was really good now that the town is starting to grow and more people are moving in. Banfield is getting horrible. My dog was out playing and Got a stick jab down his throat. She’s doing good no blood gums are good. She’s breathing OK just a little bit of excess saliva. I called them. They told me to take her to the Emergency vet. I’m like I pay good money to have been filled wellness plan. She’s doing OK. All I need is for her to be checked to make sure she doesn’t have splinters in her mouth or anything like that. No, we can’t do that. We’re overbooked and the vets are busy today. What the hell is going on with Banfield anymore? I’m about done with it. I’ll pay the extra money to take them to a regular bet.

People are nice but every single time, every time over the last 10 years, I wait almost an hour after my appointment time. If you know it will take that long, let me know so I can come later or even just walk my dog outside rather than sitting there and let his stress build for 45+minutes. It's unkind.

When you take the time to research public opinion about Banfield Veterinary Hospitals, the Google rating of 3.8 stars becomes highly questionable. In contrast, Banfield’s rating with Consumer Affairs is a dismal 1.3 out of 5 stars, which aligns perfectly with my own experiences and those of everyone I know who has had the misfortune of using their plans.
Four years ago, we used to love Banfield. However, since then, they have devolved into little more than used car salespeople, constantly upselling unnecessary services. We’ve even witnessed them mistreat their employees on multiple occasions. Worse still, they have, in some cases, outright lied to us in what appears to be an attempt to make extra money.
For example, they once claimed that one of our dogs had dental issues, including receding gums and other problems that simply didn’t exist. I brush that dog’s teeth daily and know for a fact that her teeth are sparkling white and perfectly healthy. Their diagnosis was completely false. On another occasion, they refused to administer a shot to the same dog, claiming she was “problematic” during the visit. This was utterly outrageous—she had never exhibited such behavior in the many years they treated her and is the calmest dog I’ve ever owned. I can only assume she was mishandled that day because there is no other explanation for their claims.
Beyond these alarming incidents, the level of administrative incompetence we encountered was staggering. It took us several years, over six visits to five different locations, to get our insurance contracts straightened out. The plans were so disorganized that Banfield repeatedly mismanaged annual physical appointments, scheduled them for the wrong times, and failed to coordinate care for both of our dogs. Their billing was equally chaotic—they constantly charged incorrectly, and we faced extreme difficulties obtaining Simparica for our dogs. We had to ask for assistance repeatedly and visit multiple locations just to resolve simple issues. It became clear that no one at Banfield is properly trained to do anything other than lie, gouge, and steal from their customers.
Adding to this frustration, when we moved from one part of Oregon to another, Banfield misled us about the availability of services at our new location. Staff at our old location assured us they would coordinate with the new (nonexistent) location and have them call us back to schedule an appointment. After waiting several days with no response, we called again and spoke to someone else, only to learn that we had been lied to. Meanwhile, they continued charging us for the pet insurance plan because we were locked into a contract.
This is just another example of corporate greed and exploitation ruining what was once a serviceable and trusted provider. After our dogs’ insurance contract expires in a month, we will never deal with these charlatans again.
As for the discrepancy between the Google reviews and the widespread dissatisfaction found elsewhere, I strongly encourage others to dig deeper into what people really think of Banfield. The truth is out there, and it’s far from a 3.8-star rating. If you want subpar care for your pets and don’t mind being taken advantage of, then perhaps Banfield is for you. Otherwise, steer clear.

The staff here has always been fantastic for us and we've taken our fur babies there for nearly two decades.

Dr. Johnston is absolutely amazing! He always takes the time to answer all of my questions, plays with my dog to help him feel good about going to the vet and has helped us keep our puppy healthy and happy. Dr. Carr is also great. He helps our rescue dog feel comfortable and is able to get him the care he needs. Their vet techs are also amazing letting us stop by to get nail trims or ear cleaning.

My boyfriend’s dog split his nail worse than I’ve ever seen. The veterinary team and Banfield is my absolute favorite, they are able to keep animals happy and calm with injuries and they come out happy! Our big boy didn’t need to be sedated and came out wiggly as ever, the staff was so in love with him. Not only do they keep animals calm, but they avoid unnecessary sedation, procedures, medications AND charges! Great for your pet, great for your heart, and doesn’t break your bank. My dog was bitten on the face by her friend a while back and they took care of both of us more than I could have expected, they were even able to clean the wound without spooking my girl.I will forever suggest this clinic to all my fellow paw-rents. They are extraordinarily caring and calm, the most trustworthy and honest (plus affordable!) place in Bend. Thank you guys again for taking care of our fur babies!

Don't get the health plan for your pets here, its a trap. Felix was a 15 year old cat that developed cancer. He was put down 5/22/23 at the Banfield clinic in Bend Oregon. The same people we got the $50 a month plan from are the same people who gave him his final shot. We continue to get charged now 5 months later. The cat is DEAD. The bank knows, the clinic knows, so why are we STILL being charged? The pet is dead, gone, let us grieve him without this clinics greed shaking us down every month as a sick reminder. We have called the clinic and it is on record that the pet is dead. I literally have a picture of the poor boy's ashes. Will this clinic please just leave us alone?!

Customer service is greatly lacking. Their phone system is terrible. No one picks up your call. You end up having to leave your poor pet there all day with no one responding regarding their appt or when you can pick them up. And once you get there, be prepared to be ignored and wait for at least 20 mins while they avoid eye contact with you.

We actually didn't look up reviews beforehand, and I'm kinda glad we didn't. Not sure I would've taken our cat to this vet had I seen the negative sentiment surrounding this place. We had a very good experience with them. This was our one and a half year old cat's first time being to a vet in a year. It started poor, we had to wait about fourty minutes before we were seen by the vet. Once the vet entered and we had to get our cat out of his carrier, he started having a major panic, something we did not predict nor had seen before at previous visits. He has become more particular as he has grown, and I think the foreign environment and loud dog sounds really had him on edge, something that would've happened at any animal clinic. The vet and the vet tech handled his melt down super well. The vet tech securely held him while our vet gave him shots and did as much of the physical exam as she could safely do. We then popped him back in his bag and he calmed down (we all did, really), and she fielded questions and concerns we had for like ten minutes. She seemed extremely caring and gave very good answers to us, and this behavior is probably why we had to wait so long in the first place, she was spending her time with each owner! She also gave a whole helpful spiel about future vet visits and ways to make our cat less chaotic, but she did so in a very positive and caring manner. Not demeaning at all.Turns out she is also a new vet there, this was her second week. She is super good, unfortunately I don't think we caught her name so I can't specifically recommend her.
