I just paid $xxx for cut, chamber, crown, thread muzzle, and he screwed it on my action too (7STW). I told him the one thing I cared about was a concentric chamber. Got it home, scoped it, went back and gave him another $100 and told him he was way to cheap. I was told 6 weeks for the job and it was done in 7.Used the same load as my last barrel, zeroed at 200 then went to 600 and shot these 4. I would not hesitate to use him again.

Ok, here is the deal. There are a fair number of gunsmiths in this town. I know a few and they do good work. But, Center Fire Gunworks deserves a special mention.The owner, Brian, is hands-down one of the nicest people I have met here, in over 15 years. And there are a lot of friendly people in Bend. You will see several mentions along these lines in other reviews and they could not be more true. He is flat-out a really nice guy.That’s in addition to being a consummate professional, who gives excellent attention to detail. Let me expand on that.Right now, he is working on a project for me that has proven to be a bit difficult, through no fault of his own. It’s tricky simply because of the parts involved not being exactly standardized. This is an AR308 build and as you may know, the AR10 (LR308) is just a different animal than the AR15. For starters, the barrel is a Government Tactical, 18” mid-length, with rifle-length being more typical. The gas port is very small on both the barrel and in this case, also the gas block. So using, for example, a standard dimpling jig (which places the block slightly off the shoulder on most AR15’s) just doesn’t work with these parts. He has had to put way more time into this upper than would be normal.Throughout this process—which could easily have a less patient gunsmith telling you to get lost—he has been kind and accommodating. Additionally, through multiple assemblies, which then needed undoing and redoing—again, due to the parts involved—he has not left a single tool mark, anywhere on the upper. Not one! He clearly takes pride in his work and it shows.I could say more, but that, along with his friendly, straightforward manner, is the big takeaway.If you need work done on a firearm in Bend, you can trust Brian to treat you (and your equipment) with impressive care and skill.5 stars are frankly not enough, for this review!

I stopped by with questions on cleaning up an old rifle to sell. Bryan was friendly, appeared very competent and explained how I could do it myself and didn't try to sell me anything. All around, a very pleasant experience. I will definitely go to Center fire when I next have work done.

I have been an avid competitor both in the military and in civilian life with many different firearms. Whether we are building rifles, rebuilding rifles, working on handguns or AR's we have had no problems. No arrogance or over priced fees either! Hard to find a more consistent and knowledgeable gunsmith... and he's always friendly with his customers.

Brought my wife’s rifle into the shop at noon after having problems with it out on the COSSA range. Brian went out of his way to repair the rifle within the hour which saved us a trip back from Corvallis. Now the rifle is ready for a December elk hunt!
