I'm keen on reading reviews, so I should probably write one = VERY HAPPY to have found this place! Long-time Bend resident - and yes, of course I'd heard of them, but kind of assumed it was focused on European cars???!! Interestingly enough, that's NOT the case (my mistake - never make assumptions). Anyway, you can figure out if they work on your vehicle, but they got my 2011 Toyota Tundra back in order, along with a full-synthetic oil change for a very reasonable price. Customer service was fantastic, and timely service all together. I think I found my new Auto Shop in town (fingers crossed though, I don't want to jinx it). Also, I love reading the bad reviews, with a grain of salt of course. The bad reviews I read about this place are practically all the same: masterfully written by quite possibly the smartest and most car-knowledgeable people in town - you almost have to ask yourself why they didn't just fix the problem themselves?!

Two visits with happy Danes and two unhappy experiences. I brought my concerns up about some sloppy job the shop produced and was ignored until they had to address the issue of a leak from the sloppy job. The owner Brandon seemed more concerned about having to address the issues of a sloppy job then he was about the Quality of work his shop produced. First visit.
Second visit and my wife asked me why would I want to take her car in after my first experience. I believe in giving people a chance. Brandon did fix my issue of the leak from the sloppy job his shop produced but he did seem visibly bothered by having to address an issue he couldn’t ignore.
After dropping off the wife’s car for routine maintenance 8:45am. The counter gal said she’ll call if anything comes up that needs any further attention. At 2:30 I call to check on the progress. The gal said the cars rear brakes need replacing, the pads are worn down to 5% remaining. I told her that’s very suspicious about rear brakes are worn out and with 50% remaining on the original front brakes. I told her if you’re confident the rear brakes need to be replace then do it. An hour later the shop calls and said the battery needs to be replaced. I declined have having the battery replaced. At 4:45 I called the shop and asked when will the car be ready to be picked up. I was told it’s finished. I said I’ll be there, might be a few minutes after 5. She told me the shop closes properly at 5 and goes home. I can pick it up tomorrow. My wife goes to work at 5am and that doesn’t work. She suggests I can pay over the phone. That doesn’t work for me. I arrived at 5 she hands us a bill that includes a battery replacement. An extra 250 dollars I did not authorize. Now after looking at the brake pads they took off it looks more like 30% of pads remain. Now the technician said there is 15% pad remaining. Now I’m not happy at all. They take off the battery from the bill. And this point I’m up set about poor communication from the counter, not calling when the car was ready, not willing to wait a few minutes for me to get there, trying to bill me for a battery I declined and recommended replacing brakes that I feel was closer to 30% then the 15% the technician says.
After getting home we find the battery was never replaced.

Quality of work from the shop and the owner being visibly bothered with me because I’m having issues with his poorly run shop.
I’ll never give them a third opportunity to be an unhappy Danes customer.

They've been taking care of my car the last few years, very satisfied with their service, honest and reasonable, even loaned me their spare car to take home for a big repair on my car that I had to leave there overnight, thank you!

Happy Danes is fantastic! Had my truck towed there based on a tow drivers recommendation and google reviews, they exceeded all expectations by keeping me apprised of repairs, cost of repairs, and they were done with my truck before estimated start date of completion. The staff is friendly, and very knowledgeable. My repair was done expertly and cleanly. I have zero regrets about using them to repair my truck. Thank you Happy Danes!!

Have taken my 2004 Tracker here for service/repairs for 20 years ...210,000 miles. Still getting same mpg as when new! Schedulers are quick to grasp my situation and do their best to accommodate my needs. Techs willing to come out and explain exactly what's going on. Never any surprises with billing. From what I hear from friends
the labor costs are probably a little under the local market. Older vehicle and parts are getting scarce, but they've managed to find them and keep me rolling along. Will always take my vehicles here.

Highly recommend! Excellent customer service, transparent, competitive pricing, and they go above and beyond with helping to accommodate your needs. Call me back on the road when other shops couldn't work me in for a month out.

I love this place and I love these people!! They're honest, trustworthy, compassionate. After dealing with the Subaru dealership I went straight here and they took care of me. They were efficient and fixed my car right the first time and gave me insight on another issue. All without the hefty price tag Subaru charged me. Not to mention they've been mainstays in Central Oregon since I've been here and that's over 30 years!

I'm quite perplexed by the overwhelmingly positive reviews this shop has received locally. While the ambiance of their lobby is pleasant, their organizational skills are commendable, and the front desk staff is accommodating, I harbor serious doubts about the competence of their mechanics.
Having grown up under the guidance of a 50-year auto mechanic, I'm attuned to the subtle signs of car troubles. I brought my car to Happy Danes upon noticing some sputtering. They diagnosed it as an overheating issue and suggested replacing the engine, a service they claimed they don't provide but offered to purchase my 2006 Honda Element instead... ???
I chose to have my car towed to a trusted mechanic who operates from his home. He replaced the head gasket, oxygen sensor, and knock sensor for $1.5k, ensuring that my car will soon run smoothly again.
Interestingly, the home-based mechanic observed no indications of an overheated engine, such as warped components or steam/white smoke from the tailpipe. Conversely, a mechanic at Happy Danes mentioned seeing white smoke from my car's exhaust on a cold morning while I was there arranging the tow, which struck me as peculiar timing. ?
Furthermore, this home mechanic successfully repaired another car that Happy Danes deemed irreparable for just $350, and it has been functioning perfectly since.
Based on these experiences, Happy Danes will not be seeing my business again. It appears they might exploit customers who lack familiarity with automotive issues.
