We rented twice while in the Bend area. This shop is awesome! Both bikes were set up perfectly. Everyone we dealt with was super accommodating even with special requests. James was very quick to respond and Todd was helpful with setting up the bikes and helping us with trail recommendations. Plus, they rent Pivots! This should be the place you choose to rent when in Bend! Thank you Sagebrush!

Traveling thru town and they wouldn’t help me with an emergency repair that should take 5 min with the right tools… maybe they are good but they seem to have zero interest in helping a rider in need. I wouldn’t buy or rent from them if this is their typical attitude.

I’m glad I waited to write this review because the review upon picking up a rental this weekend would have been far from sparkling. I rented from Sagebrush because my partner was picking up a racing packet at their store and their MTB rental prices were slightly cheaper than the other shop I contacted. The bike:Great, fun to ride. Sold on the drop post and the gearing. The trails we went out on were mostly flat, but the few spots with some rocks and incline were a very smooth ride. Will most likely be buying a similar bike with the same components. The pickup:I left seething. I don’t appreciate being spoken to or treated like a toddler. I’m going to go out on a limb and say “if a customer ordered a bike with SPD clips, they don’t need instructions on how to operate a helmet.”Here’s a suggestion: Ask “Hey, do you have any questions about the bike?” and don’t act like you want to eyeroll when someone does ask questions. I asked questions – about the drop post because my gravel, road, old mtb, and ebikes don’t/didn’t have drop posts; never operated one before and was looking for an explanation without getting looked at like this was my first day on Earth. I also had a passing question about the shifting because I’ve never been on this bike and this was my first time on a 1x12. Apparently, I should have known all this already, even though the website gives little to no details or descriptions of components. What minor adjustments I wanted to make, I decided immediately to do myself with the tools we brought because I didn’t want to spend another minute on this interaction. The scenario left such a bad taste in my mouth I regretted not just coughing up the extra money and renting from the other shop I spoke with in town, who were super friendly and knowledgeable. The dropoff:Total 180. Mechanic who received back the bike was super nice and knowledgeable and spoke with my partner and I about the bike, along with my partner’s racing bike. Turned the 1-star review into a 2.5-star review.I know that sexism and the weird elitist attitude has been normalized in the bike mechanic world for a long time, but that doesn’t make it OK. It always makes me wonder if I would I have been treated the same if I was a man. In cases where I’m being treated like garbage by the staff of a shop, I would just walk out and never patronize the place, but alas in this situation, I already paid for the bike and just wanted to go on and enjoy my weekend.I work for my money like everyone else and I’d rather spend it at a place where I left feeling good about supporting the business.

James is the best mechanic I’ve ever met. I wish I could bring him to Seattle and make him my personal bike mechanic. He is so thorough, knowledgeable and dedicated. He will get your bike working no matter what. Thank you James.

I love everything about this store. From the staff to the items for sale to the quality of service provided. Sagebrush is the friendliest and most fun shop to go to in all of Central Oregon.

My favorite ski/bike shop in Bend. Friendly helpful employees that always go out of their way to get me on the slopes/trail. Great place!

James and team helped us rent XC skis and snowshoes for a big group we had in town. Their up front process, morning-of fittings, and easy pick up made it a great experience. Can't thank them enough!

These guys are rad. My Oneup pedal seized up on Phil’s trails. I took it in and the mechanic was able to look at it right there and unfortunately the prognosis wasn’t good. Bought a new set and he installed it while I chatted bikes with the other employee. He even shaved down my crank arm boots so they would clear. Super friendly and helpful.

Locals spot! Lots of history, sick building with bar, fireplace, and dog! Got my OBREA bike and my Burton snowboard there.

We were visiting Bend and decided to rent a couple of demo bikes at the last minute. We were fitted quickly and the well-maintained bikes were perfect for our ride. The store was well-stocked with everything we needed and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

Eric in the mechanic section was a great help when it came to getting my hardtail in for a long overdue maintenance session. He had a great depth of knowledge and talked me through each component and piece of hardware he was replacing. My bike is now riding smooth as ever and my motivation to ride is through the roof. If you've been putting off some maintenance like I had, just bring your rig down to Sagebrush. They'll get you back in the saddle in no time.

Sagebrush Cycles provided friendly, kind, and professional service to all participants in the 2022 Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder that experienced mechanical issues on and off the course including twice making repairs to my Niner Bikes RLT 9 RDO that contributed significantly to my 5th place, overall finish in the masters 45+ category. They were a pleasure to hang-out with as well, each time generously sharing their bicycle knowledge. A solid group of mechanics and general bicycle enthusiasts. I highly recommend this bicycle shop in Bend, Oregon.

Despite being busy Tony and Clint were super helpful and my bike was repaired the same day I dropped it off with no appointment. I have always loved my pivot and this shop is my favorite. Plus they have cold beer for your post ride refreshment. Thank you sagebrush.

I've really been meaning to write a review since I bought my bike from the guys at Sagebrush 2 years, and continue to be impressed by their friendly service and expertise. From buying the bike and keeping it maintained, James, Gary and the rest of the crew at Sagebrush are outstanding. Often if I take my bike in for a tune-up or some work, they will say it'll take a few days, but then call me within a day telling me it's ready. Really can't recommend them highly enough for purchasing a bike and/or service!

My wife had an incredibly positive experience with Sagebrush Cycles during our visit to Bend. Her front derailleur broke after a couple rides and while a replacement was not available they were able to do an upgrade to a 1X system in an afternoon. She had been contemplating that switch but hadn’t done so to date. Tony the mechanic did an awesome job and made a few other adjustments on the bike when he did the upgrade. She was back on the trails the following day. Gary was very helpful a week later when she decided that a smaller front chainring would make her more successful on steeper climbs. Once the special order arrived he had it installed that afternoon. We always enjoy supporting and recommending local bike shops. Big thanks to Sagebrush for keeping us pedaling on this first but hopefully not last visit to Bend.
