More than happy with our Christmas tree this year. We will be back every year! This was literally the first tree we looked at.

We just had our Christmas Tree delivered today, I was not expecting same day delivery but it arrived an hour after I ordered it! The employee was very sweet, asked us if we wanted to keep the extra tree clippings, and he even cleaned up our driveway with a leaf blower when he was all finished. Highly recommend getting your tree here!

TVM in La Pine is one of my favorite establishments I have ever frequented in my life. I would consider Jodi a friend, and enjoy our conversations as much as the delicious fresh produce he sells. You always see him working his tail off in there - rotating product, wetting down the highly perishables, or organizing the awesome condiments they sell. We count down the days every year until the stand opens, and weep when it closes. Shoot, we go in when we don't even need anything just because we want to shop there. We will forever and always be loyal patrons of TVM.

I just witnessed a very, very disappointing, discouraging & somewhat disgusting sight. After purchasing my strawberries at The Vegetable Man Produce stand at the corner of Highway 97 South & Meyer Rd, (next to the Dollar Tree mall across the highway from Fred Meyer), I was sitting in my friend's van waiting for him to back out. We were facing Meyer Rd looking directly at the dumpster. I watched who I am assuming is a manager or owner, (based on how he barked orders across the stand at his employee while I was at the counter), opened the dumpster & dumped nearly a full flat of citrus fruit that was still viable into the dumpster. If that wasn't bad enough, he jumped up into the dumpster & stomped up & down to turn edible fruit into mush. For the devil's advocate, I would say this "poor" business owner is trying to deter those who might be seeking to raid his dumpster & that he's just protecting his business. Well, I'd like to suggest to this business owner that he might consider donating the produce he's discarding that could feed someone who really needs fresh produce they rarely get because it's too expensive. To purposely destroy food for the sole purpose of keeping it out of the hands of the needy is selfish, self centered, greedy & lacking in human compassion. I find it interesting that this company makes money off of every piece of produce whether fresh or overly ripe & bruised, but will destroy viable fruit. What? If they can't make money off it then they throw it away & decimate it so no one can benefit from it??? By one government tally, about 60 million tons of produce worth about $160 billion dollars is wasted by retailers and consumers every year. I've been so poor that I had to rely on food banks. In the old days, produce was not usually a part of a food box so I would rely on canned fruits & vegetables & rarely enjoyed fresh produce. Today, most food pantries are a part of the Oregon Food Bank program that now provides the less fortunate with what should be a staple that everyone should have access to. I love my fruit stand strawberries. They're just like candy. I will not, however, be bringing my business & my precious dollars to The Vegetable Man Produce stands any more in the future. Please consider this post the next time you set out to buy produce from an independent stand & take your business to a company that doesn't blatantly contribute to the food waste crisis in America. Be about your community. ALL of your community.

Today I went to buy a few good tomatoes, lettuce and whatever else looked good. I was again blown away by the prices of some of the produce. I felt most of the produce was way overpriced. Heirloom tomatoes were $6.99/lb. There were some from Canada for less but I was hoping for local ones at a reasonable price. I went to the 1/2 off box and found three decent tomatoes. This isn't the first time I've felt like I was being ripped off when I've gone to VMP. When I went to check out the cashier said my total was $9.30. I knew the head of lettuce I'd picked up was $3 so that meant the three 1/2 priced tomatoes I was buying were $6.30. I questioned the total and it was discovered I was charged twice for the head of lettuce. This is the second time I've questioned the total and found I'd been overcharged. If you shop there pay close attention when your items are being rung up to avoid paying more than you should. Perhaps my belief of what a vegetable stand should be is all wrong but when I drive away feeling like I've been gouged, it's not good.

The La Pine vegetable man takes good care of cyclists. Always picks out a melon I can eat the same day and always delicious. Great guy too.

I've been going to the Vegetable Man for many summers. The fruit is fresh, service is friendly, and the blueberry flats are super fresh at a good price. It's also fun shopping outdoors.

Giving three stars instead of one due to the La Pine stand being wonderful with great people. I visited the Bend stand yesterday and when we walked up the guy stocking the table let us know that they didn’t open for another half hour but that we could still shop. I asked a clarifying question as to whether we could also pay or if we had to wait a half hour and he rudely responded with “I literally just said you could” we left and didn’t bother.

This is the place to go in Bend for fresh, local produce! They had a good supply of morel mushrooms this spring, then strawberries and blueberries, just to name a few. Our friends from LA picked up a Tuscan melon and said it was good as those they enjoyed in Tuscany—woo hoo! Service is excellent, and they do things like offer radishes loose so you can have as many or few as you like. Local honey and special treats, too.

way too expensive anymore. Go find the man and his son at the north end of Bend, at Michaels parking lot. He and his family pick produce and sell it out of the back of their truck.

What a find. Veggie Man Produce is our goto place for quality produce at fair prices. Great customer service. Best day of the year is when they open for the season, saddest day of the year is when they close for winter. One stop here will convince you this is a true review.
