“They did a front brake job & a oil change on my 2020 Toyota Tundra & I was pleasantly surprised they did a much needed tire rotation without me asking. That saved me an hour at our local tire shop. Great communication & reasonable pricing...highly recommended & will go back”

“My old 89 Dodges transmission had some problems when I stopped in town for the night. I called top gear and the assured me I could come in the next business day and get checked out. Luckily it was an easy fix and the shop was able to patch me up and get me back on the road that day. Friendly and honest folks that were very professional. Thanks again! Def recommend!”

“Had a great experience with James at Brookings Automotive. Our 2007 F-150 truck developed a misfire on our trip down from Portland. By the time we got to brookings the truck was running very poorly. James made space in his schedule and had us fixed the same day. He knew exactly what the problem was and had the experience to get us back on the road within 30 minutes. He is honest, extremely likeable and well mannered. His charge was very reasonable also. I have no hesitation in recommending him. A great mechanic with a great 'get it done' attitude.”

“I used Doctor D for years when living in the area, and recently had a confusing car issue from across the country. I called, explained what was happening, and got a list of possible issues to talk to my new mechanic about. Thank you for all the care and attention. Karley (office manager) helped communicate everything to me in simple ways that helped me advocate for what I needed.”

“Had to get an oil change on my road trip and they were the only ones who could do it ASAP. I called many other places who were booked out a week in advance, but Proficient Automotive told me to come by the same day I called. Good service. The only complaint I have is that they didn’t call me when it was done despite having given them my phone number. However, it could have been a misunderstanding on my part.”

“Small town service at its best here. I had to make an unexpected trip towing a three-axel boat trailer and wanted to make sure everything was good to go before traveling 500 miles. Without an appointment, Carpenter Tire was able to get me in quickly, and do a complete check of the trailer. Using this trailer in saltwater, I anticipated there could be issues with wiring, brakes or bearings. They quickly checked it out, let me know what was wrong and had the bearings repacked and/or replaced by the next morning. One of the bearings was fried and wouldn’t have made it very far at high speed. The mechanic and service writer were both very experienced in dealing with trailers, bearings, hubs, wiring, etc. Great job by a longtime local business that shows it cares for its customers.”

“A HUGE shout out to this Mazda dealer. We are traveling along the coast in a Mazda rental car from Alamo. We had a problem with the car seat belt and Alamo wanted us to drive 6 hours back to Portland to exchange the car. We called Bernie Bishop and not only did they fit us in same day but also used the warranty. Thank you again, we are back on the road!”

“Wow, this type of business and service just doesn't exist these days and to find a place with such amazing service is truly a gem. I am from out of town traveling up the coast and needed an alignment. From the second I walked through the door, the technician filled me in multiple times as to what was wrong with my car. Literally, one of the most impressive businesses, regardless of type, that I have ever experienced in my lifetie. Really amazing.”

“460 miles from home. Fuel pump goes out on the 101. These guys had it diagnosed in minutes of push it up from the tow. I had it back in lease then 20 hours of drop off! Thank you so much! The habbor inn is only a mile and half away and same to the beach.”

“Driving BMW down the redwood hwy 99 on a recent Sunday I ran over a number of rocks falling from the cliffside and put a large hole in my oil pan. Was able to get a 40 mile tow to the Foreign Garage in Brookings. Long story short, the owner was able to get a new pan shipped in and worked overtime to replace it. Had me back on the road within 48 hours. Owner is a master mechanic who did an incredible job. Over 500 miles later and no leaks. Rescued me from what could have been a much longer ordeal. My most hearty thanks and do not hesitate to use the Foreign Garage for any service needed. Thank you.”
