Been fishing out of this location for many years. 2 boat launches, restrooms and showers, fish cleaning station, campground with RV and tent sites. Located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.

$8 launch fee is totally worth it. Lots of new upgrades! The new guys working there are awesome and definitely more helpful. The campground is so cool, right on the Columbia River. This place is getting the facelift it has needed and I'm happy to see it. Love spending my summers at the Fishery.

$20 a night for two cars and a tent, hot showers included. 'nuffSaid.. but really where else can you clean your fish and yourself for a day use fee of $5? Located in the center of the gorge's hoytest salmon and steelhead fishing holes, it may need improvement, but if you pay attention, you will see that progress is being made, slowly but surely.

Great location but is the only possitive.Negatives:$8 launch fee is excessive for the following poor conditions:$5 parking fee for non launch vehicles (if your friends join you)2 Porta potties by launch were almost overflowing with excrement2 Launch docks are of POOR quality... not stable and half of them have one side almost leaning into the waterThe fish cleaning station is a nice touch... it has running water... but all the hoses have numerous holes and spray everywhere... fish waste is put into a big "Portland Recycling" rolling bin which makes you want to vomit. A good fish cleaning station would have built in garbage disposal where fish waste is ground up and sent underground. One reviewer talks about a recent facelift... the current condition of everything is sub-par to POOR. If that's after a facelife... was it ruble before?Poor location to camp... it is RIGHT by a railroad... so at night you have commercial trains going by every 45 mins. No calm and quiet, especially in tents.I'd recommend the extra drive to the publicly owned hamilton island launch on the WA side. Even with the Bridge of the Gods toll its still better.

For over 23 years I have been an avid salmon and steelhead fisherman, having caught many fish off the bank as well as from boats. Several years ago I discovered Fishing the Gorge, and Kyle Battisti expanded my fishing world and horizon with his knowledge of the Columbia River, his skill at consistently putting me on fish, and his sense of humor. Often when conditions on smaller rivers are unfishable, the Columbia offers a bounty of food and Kyle knows where to find it. Several years ago when the rain and snow runoff had raised the Columbia beyond its normal levels, Kyle found fish by anchoring over a campsite and finding the 'path of least resistance' that the salmon were following on their upstream journey to spawn. During my first ever (and only) trip for keeper sturgeon a few years back, I came away with a keeper on my first fish of the day! I have caught summer Chinook, fall Chinook and Coho, Springers, and steelhead from Kyle's boat. And there has been the occasional day when we were skunked - odds are if you go enough it will happen - that's why it's called 'fishing'! But most of our days have been successful, including a memorable trip out at Buoy 10 where in just 2 hours we had 23 takedowns and landed our limit of 6 fish on the boat, all beautiful Columbia Chinook! It was remarkable, especially because there were hardly any boats around us. The fishing pressure was in a couple of other areas, but Kyle knew where the fish were and how to catch them and we were heading home with our prize in a short time. I highly recommend fishing with Kyle and Fishing the Gorge, especially for inexperienced fishermen/women who are looking to catch their first salmonid. Kyle is patient and helpful as clients are fighting their fish and his calmness is soothing for nervous and excited rookie guests. I will continue to fish with Kyle and take my kids on his boat for more exciting adventures, both in fishing AND catching!

I've been fishing with Kyle (Fishing the Gorge) for over 10 years now. I have to say I have caught MORE fish than I can count over the last decade with Kyle. In fact, my biggest salmon (that I caught on the Columbia River) was WITH Kyle ... 40+ lbs! I have a lot of fun with Kyle & respect his knowledge of the Columbia River & it's tributaries. He has been Fishing for several decades & is a VERY dedicated, smart & talented guide. I have fished with other guides over the years, but Kyle is "My #1 Pick" for the Columbia River. There are several boats/people that go out Fishing on the Columbia (not knowing the River & the strength of the current). It can be a very dangerous river to fish (for those not familiar with it), but I've always felt confident with Kyle & how he manages/maneuvers his boat. Several mornings Kyle will go out hours earlier (even 3am/4am) just to get the best spot on the River for his clients. Being a guide that fishes practically every day, during the Salmon/Steelhead fishing season, he knows the best places to catch (and where the fishing has been "hot," as he sees this every day). Of course the bite can change overnight, with the fluctuation in water temperature, barometer, or the depth of the river (if Bonneville Dam starts dumping a bunch of water -- that alone can throw off the fishing). But he does his best to bring in Salmon and/or Steelhead for his clients. Of course there will be days the fishing is simply slow... and that's WHY it's called "Fishing" not "Catching" as there are no guarantees. But I DO have to say....I have brought in MANY fish over the years on Kyle's boat. Kyle is also very respected by other guides & fisherman that regularly fish the Columbia. One time we were out fishing....and a boat pulled up & actually delivered a "breakfast sandwich" to Kyle --- to thank him for his help on the River the previous day. He is also very good at coaching & explaining tactics to first-time fisherman, or those not very experienced. He always explains about the current & how to hold the rod & how to reel in ....so as "not to lose a fish." Many people don't understand, when you drop anchor in a River with a very strong current....you have to move quickly & reel fast/steady, so you don't lose your fish. But he is very patient with his clients & explains everything about good fishing techniques. I would highly recommend Kyle & Fishing the Gorge to any of my family, friends & those looking for an experienced, fun, fishing experience on the Columbia River. We've always had a great time with Kyle & enjoy the scenery and beautiful sunrises on the River for MANY years now --- that's WHY I'm a long-term, lifetime client of Fishing the Gorge :-)
